Did Yugoslavia had any refinery?

I suppose it did imported oil/fuel from Romania.

And about coal?

The League of Nations statistical yearbook for 1938-9 notes no crude oil production for Yugoslavia in the 1930s but does have the production of an estimated 26 000 metric tons of petrol in 1935 (none before that) and the same amount in subsequent 2 years. Presumably some form of processing plant had been built?

Coal production varied between c400,000 to 450,000 tons during the later 1930s.

Oil was imported from Romania though I don't know in what amounts.

hi there

I have come across some crude oil production stats for Yugoslavia. I also have hard coal and lignite production
sources (The world almanac and book of facts, 1929, 1935, 1940 and 1945)

1930 1931 1932 1933 1934 1935 1936 1937 1938 1939
Crude oil (thou met tons) 0.3 0.2 0.3 0.6 0.5 0.3 0.1 0.5 1.1 1.0
Hard Coal (mil met tons) 0.366 0.406 0.368 0.379 0.387 0.390 0.441 0.428 0.450 0.446
Lignite (mil met tons) 4.906 4.450 4.108 3.797 3.926 4.002 4.035 4.574 5.287 5.622

hope this helps

Hi, Mr. Dili!

Yes, Yugoslavia had refineries.

For example the one in Sisak in Croatia was owned by Shell.
http://www.maketarstvo.net/forum/viewtopic.php?p=108394
It processed 96 000 tons of oil in 1940, including domestically produced oil.

There was also refinery in Bosanski Brod in Bosnia and Herzegovina, owned by Standard Oil.
It was a target of the Allied bombings during WWII. http://hrcak.srce.hr/index.php?show=cla ... ezik=11333

There were coal mines in Yugoslavia such as Kreka near Tuzla in Bosnia and Herzegovina http://www.kreka.ba/istrorijat.html, Trbovlje, Hrastnik, Zagorje ob Savi in Slovenia http://www.rth.si/index.php?id=2807.

Fuel was imported from Romania, but I don't know the percentage of the Romanian oil in the imports.

Best regards,
Eisvogel

Some additional data about the operations of Standard Oil and Shell in Yugoslavia, including the data about refineries and imports of crude oil from Romania.
