ljadw is correct here, peace with Britain is an impossible premise, because Britain was nowhere near defeat at any point of the war. USA started to supply Britain as early as September 2 1940, so the OKW knew what they are facing. Attacking the SU was to provide the means for the effective war against the British/American superpowers. Instead, the SU emerged as a superpower, even if with the help of the western allies.
