Hello Jos and JLM,
The picture is Sangatte, the dike and the houses seem to fit well. The slope of the hill in the background matches as well.

JLM: I talked about the small locality of Strouanne, west of Escalles. The picture page 35 of AC Book is Sangatte. These are two different places. ;)

Here are two (bad) pictures of my own where the tower of Strouanne can scarcely be seen. Seems to be shorter than the ones of Sangatte. Guess It was maybe only to survey the beach and the cliffs bottoms dead angles, because there are everywhere around higher grounds which are better designed for the coastal survey.

sangatte has three wooden towers verified
One base is still there on a Wellblech
here is the third one who is on the wellblech

the observationpost (Marine) in StP 115 Wuppertal has also a construction on its roof
sadly too few to make measurements and i ll know to far away (like strouanne)

Hello Dirk,
there was also an observation post on the top of the tower of the Sangatte Church.
It was postwar destroyed.
