Hello

Here the photo from the above mentioned book. It's a blurry picture but
you can see the guns hanging on both sides of the central block

Hello

According to some orginal German information this gun should be the 8.8 cm
S.K.C/31 in Dopp.L. C/31and not 8.8 cm S.K.C/32 in Dopp.L. C/32 ????

Hello All

A other option could be that the guns on both photo's could be th 8.8 cm S.K. C/25 in Dopp.L.
placed on the Königberg class cruisers but they were replaced by the single 8.8 cm S.K.L/45 ??

Hello Jos ,
Both the phots from M.Fl.B. Holtenau + your scan
from Campell page 250 shows :
8,8 cn S.K.C/35 in 8,8 cm Dopp. L.C/35
Campell page 250 have a wrong caption !
The 8,8 cm S.K.C/35 were only used on Köln i few
months in 1933 - 1934 .
Recognition :
- without shield
- widely spaced gun barrels
- heavy breech block / counterweights
- backside of the breech block is curved
For tectical data see :
M.J. Whitley :
German Cruises of World War Two
page 172 with about 30 x parameters
The photo from navweapons is correct
regards
ludvig

Hi all,

Ludvig, you want to say 8.8cm SK C/25 L75 guns in Dopp LC/25 mounts, no??
Apparently these guns were not very satisfactory, and were replaced by 8.8cm Flak L45 and later by 8.8cm SK C/31 L78 guns in Dpp LC/31 or 8.8cm SK C/32 L76 guns on Dopp. LC/32. :? I'm not sure yet which of these last two guns and mounts were used on these light cruisers during the war.

Hi ,
* typing error , the two 8,8 cm SKC/25 in Dopp
LC/25 mounts was tested in Köln in 1930 - 31 .
Not as J wrote ( 1933 - 34 ).
* M.Fl.B Holtenau , 4. batterie of Marine - Flak -
Abeteilung 221 used 2 x 8,8 cm Doppellafette ,untill
February 1944 when is was refitted with 4 x 12,8 cm.
Source Klaus Hupp : Bei der Marineflak ,
zur Verteidigung der Stadt und Festung Kiel im
2. Weltkrieg page 18 .
