Dear Friends,

If the picture had been taken near Angers, it's probably the water towers build near Avrillé. Please have a look on the google street view image and the extracts from aerial photos dated july and august 1944 (from Remonter le temps). In my mind, the water towers were not used for Flak.

Hello,

An archeological research paper about the anti-tank ditch dug in Avrillé :

Thank you, Sébastien.

The picture is taken indeed next to Avrillé. I spent some time not too far from these water towers on business a few weeks ago. 8-)

The aerial views indeed show no heavy flak guns installed on top.

Hello,
these two bunkers, could it be some "nicer" (radiused etc) Regelbau 10a variations? I am no Westwall expert... :( Thanks!

Belgium for sure. Could be Albert Canal or any "abri contre-irruption" of Position fortifée de Liége.

If its of any help:
the lower picture shows that the site is in a space that is lower then the surrounding area
also it's protected with a wall on at least two sides.
Quary ?
railroad yard ?
Thanks,

Wim

It must be Maginot line. It looks like the most modern "Tourelle A.M. et mortier de 50" with its front armour plate destroyed by shells. The shape of the roof fits also more than to the shape of the usual "Tourelle mitrailleuse".

Hello Ondrej,
Thanks again! So the description was completely misleading... (not unusual)
