Wimereux PC demolished

Post by dirk Peeters » 29 Nov 2016 22:19

In Wimereux there was a big commandopost built in the early years of the war
On the french forum there beginning to talk about this bunker
I have seen this bunker but at that period never took merasurements
In an old magazine called "Le Mur" there was a plan with different outside waal thicknesses which is impossible ofcourse (i ll think) i hope to solve this mystery here
Gefechtsstand 01 01 (2).JPG
the plan of that bunker
Gefechtsstand 01 plan YD (1).jpg
this plan is from yannick Delefosse which i have great confidence in himl as it is for making plans so it is possible that the germans build it like this ?
any one has info about this bunker ?
it was situated in StP 214 Lachmowe

This was the Luftschutz bunker of the MAA 240 HQ. Do you know when it was demolished?

Thanks Ron! According to Fritz Diekmann, commander of the MAA 240 they were very safe inside the bunkers.

i have demolition pictures
i look them over
i believed 1992 when it was demolished
it looks like one of the 1940 models , but that is my opinion except for the gaslocks

They called it a Luftschutzbunker themselves. But Luftschutz is also just "protection from air attacks". According to Diekmann the roof was 2.7 meters thick.

Hi Dirk !
Found the answer in an old copy (#13, december 1991) of "Le Mur Magazine" ....
This building was destroyed on september 1991 !
If you want more details try to find the book (by André-Georges Vasseur) "Boulogne 1944 - jusqu'au dernier" (page 17).
Regards

Hello everyone,

This bunker must have sheltered Adolf Hitler during the Seelowe operation... But after that the operation was gift up, it was a MAA 240 HQ ! After the war, It was customed like a school and for stocking many objects belonging to the Wimereux city. I think the first MAA 240 HQ was in the Madonna's house, in front of the beach. An anti-tank wall (still there today) protected it.

Hello everyone,

The bunker and several homes around it where used by the MAA 240.

It is a Luftschuts model with some extra rooms. Probely build as a F.K. model.

Hitler was never there. In the entrance was a board with the tekst Führer, below this where names and dates and this was probely meant who was in charge of the bunker. So a bunkerführer or controller and not big A from Berlin.

Hello everyone,

Thank you Ben and Dirk for information and the pictures !!! Today, the place is a big building where nobody lives 3/4 of the year... But you can still see the remains of the german lock next to it ! It must have flooded the ground behind the railway bridge... Today it is a big park called (in french) "Parc de Wimille" since 1998...
