M.A.Z.A. Amersfoort 1943

#1

Post by jopaerya » 07 Oct 2017, 09:25

Hello

The Marineartilleriezeugamt Amersfoort was located in the Erdal factory at the Brabantsestraat 17, it was transferred
to Amersfoort on 03-06-1943 and renamed in Marineartilleriearsenal on 19-11-1943 . So these photos during a visit of a
Konteradmiral must be made in the period between the two dates . The mainbuilding is still there and the photos match .

You can see a LG.4 ( viewtopic.php?t=117319 ) , a 7.5 cm Flak M.35 (h) and a groundplate
of a 9.4 cm Flak M.39(e) just as you can see it in the 671 S.K. on Forteiland ( IJmuiden ) .

Regards Jos

Very nice photos Jos.

Here's a label on a computing apparatus box now in the National Army Museum, from the Bt Rozenburg.
Was the Artillerie-Arsenal also located at this place?

As far as i could find, the maza amersfoort was a nebendienststelle of the maza Den Haag (located in a bunch of garages at the westduinweg.
At least den haag was still in use after that date in 43..
What the name Wassenaar had to do with it i cant match?

Thee was alot of interaction between the different maza locations, due to the large amount of different guns, and thus different spareparts that were needed everywhere..

Hello Guys

I don't know the exact organistation of the M.A.Za. in Holland , but maybe the Marine Arsenal was the main location ?

M.A.Za. Bergen op Zoom ( Carroserie Roset )
M.A.Za. Den Haag ( Westduinweg )
M.A.Za. Veenendaal ( Sigarenfabriek Panter )
M.A.Za. Den Helder ( W.n. 124a M )

Thanks to Tim

There were M.A.Za Dienststelle , in Holland Den Helder , Harlingen and Bergen op Zoom .
Maybe the Dienststelle were lower units of the M.A.Za. ???

Here a document from after the fall of Antwerp from material that was send to Germany from Art.Ars.Amersfoort .

NIce to see that the planned guns for the B. Westkappele were send to Swinemunde and also the
iron base plate for the 15 cm S.K.C/28 . The only strange thing are the 4 x 9 cm K.M. 26 (f) in Holland
these were French naval flak guns, who knows were these were planned ??? ( NARA )

In Hoogeveen there was a Marine Arsenal according to resistance documents.
It was located in the wood called Spaarbank-Bosch between Hoogeveen and Pesse/Eursinge.

In Scheveningen at the Van Bergenstraat there was a big maza complex "MAZA Den Haag", in a bunch of garages. Achter the war converted to a coca cola distribution centre😂.
In the same complex there were mini sub's (Molch) stored, but i'm not sure if this had connection with the MAZA, or was just used as good camouflage storage

At 3-9-1943 there is mention of: Dienststelle des Marineartilleriezeugamtes Amersfoort in Bergen op Zoom, and at the same time artilleriewaffenkommando Bergen op Zoom.
This was a dienststelle of the MAZA Den Haag.

There was also a: artillerie Arsenal Kiel-Dietrichdorf, also named (or at the same location) kriegsmarine Arsenal Kiel.
Also: marine artillerienebenzeugamt Norderney.

A summup of the maza's i found March 1943:
Wilhelmshaven
Cuxhaven
Helgoland
Brunsbüttelkoog
Sylt
Emden
Kiel D'dorf
Swinemunde
Pillau
Gotenhafen
Memel
Kirkenes
Tromsö
Narvik
Drontheim
Bergen
Kristiansand-Süd
Horten
Kopenhagen
Thisted
Den Haag
Boulogne
Cherbourg
Brest
Lorient
St. Nazaire
Rochefort
Arjen
Konstanza
Geval
Séte
Sewastopol
Wesermünde
Wangerooge
Norderney
Borkum
Oslo
Sandnessjoen
Molde
Stavanger
Frederikshaven
Esbjerg
Harlingen
Den Helder
Bergen op Zoom
Brügge
Le havre
Guethary
Kreta
Kertsch
Libau
Guernsey

The Maza's on the european westcoast communicated alot about missing/badly constructed parts, spareparts, updates of equipment and other matters.
I guess there was a big shortage of spareparts due to the big range of weapons/equipment that was used by the Atlantikwall coastal artillery units.

Hi!

From distribution list of "Geheimer Ostsee-Tagesbefehl" 1941:

MAZa Kiel-Dietrichdorf
MAZa Jessenitz
MAZa Swinemünde
MAZa Gotenhafen
MAZa Pillau
MAZa Memel
MANZa Segeberg (MarineArtillerieNebenZeugamt)

MAZa Kopenhagen
MAZa Sylt Dienststelle Esbjerg
MANZa Frederikshavn

MAZa Oslo
MAZa Bergen
MAZa Drontheim
MAZa Tromsoe
MAZa-Dienststelle Kirkenes ("MAZa-Dienststelle" just a "sub-station"?)
MAZa-Dienststelle Sandneßjöen
MAZa-Dienststelle Molde
MAZa-Dienststelle Horten
MAZa-Dienststelle Kristansand-Süd
MAZa-Dienststelle Stavanger

MAZa Konstanza
MAZa Athen

At 24.3.43 I found a note, that Segeberg was already a MAZa, but at that day it was renamed to MAZa Fahrenkrug
At 29.3.43 Den Helder was noted as "MAZa-Dienststelle Den Helder".

Best wishes
Rolf

According to the KTB Adm.i.d.Ndl. from 1 to 15 Nov. '44 they were busy clearing "Bereich Artillerie Arsenal Amersfoort" in November 1944, it seems they aready started before November.
Till November 251 waggons, 18 trucks (165 t.) and 5 barges (1653 t.) were send to other locations in germany (for instance Art.Ars. in Jessenitz, Aurich, Fahrenkrug, Wilhelmshafen, Swinenmünde and Luft-Mun.Verwetungstelle Ebra-Lessien).
Greetings Jack.
