Hi All,
Does anyone know this bunker?
It's probably a 608 or 610. It's somewhere along the Süwdwall, probably Marseille or Toulon
I found it on a homepage some time ago, but can't find
the link anymore

Hi Ben
A 608 without tobruk looks very small. We have one in Middelburg.
However, your right that the entrances are too close to eachother to be a 610 0r 608..
However, the right entrance of a 616 should be 1,10m wide.
Juding from the picture the right entrance is a normal 80cm entrance.

There was a R-35 tankturret on top until around 1970-80.
Allain Chazette has a photo of it in one of his books, but can`t remember the title....
Here`s a photo of the roof + view from the right side.

Hallo!
If I remeber right, we took some outer measures and noted is as a "SK".
The remaining PzII turret in Marseille shoud be close, but we couldn`t find it!!
Apart from these 2, there are some other stuff like this PAK bunker embedded in an old wall (Note the Rs58 low right!)
We found no entry for this bunker either, but supposedly access from the hospital behind...

hi again
Please excuse my poor english, very nice pics of these bunkers. During the WW2 this road was very impotrant because it's the direct road to the harbor and also to the very impressive U.Bunker still in construction in 1944.
The Geramns planned that if an army take them on the back side, this road should have a great strategic importance so they fortifed it. The fire window in the old wall is heading to the North of Marseille, and the 2nd bunker is placed at a strategic crossroad.
There is a third construction that I found.
If you go down the "avenue de la Madrague ville" , the street that goes just in front of the first bunker then you will find a huge one among the houses on the right side of the street.
It's the bigger one of that system, it's a little difficult to find but as you will see a very big, square, dark house with ventilation holes on the side wall that's it !!!
Maybe a commandement post or a casemate to protect the U.bunker, I don't know and I don't have any picture of it.
But if you go down there please take one shot for me...
It serves now as a private habitation
regards

I`m not familliar with the streetnames, but could it be this?
We think it`s a R 621 due to the air intakes....

Hi Erik
The one on your picture is located on the Prado II on the right side when you have the see in front of you, It takes part in the defensive system of the prado beach with the bunkers in the Parc Borely and the big ones on the Hippodrome which were destroyed after war. Theres was a Panzer mauer along the seeside but it have been destroyed after war,
The one I talk about is located far from there, in fact in the north quarters of Marseille in the " ancien quartier des abatoirs "
The parc Borely is in the south quarters.
In fact the one I talk about is very close to the ones you took picture first, maybe 50 or 100 meters
Regards
