4.7 cm PAK 36 (t) (ex-czech M-36)
Re: 4.7 cm PAK 36 (t) (ex-czech M-36)
I ran into several photos of 47mm Czechoslovak AT guns being used by the Italian army on Sicily in 1943. The caption of this one, located in the beach defenses at Gela, stated that it came from Greek stocks (though I presume they were ex-Yugoslav). Curiously enough, the Italian Army on Sicily also used war-booty French 47mm guns. I wonder if there was any rhyme or reason in their deployment? Czech 47mm in divisional AT units, French guns in corps-level AT companies? I have the Italian official history of the Sicily campaign, and while it notes the various AT units, there are no indications of equipment.

Here is a July 1943 picture from Life Magazine showing a captured 47 mm French AT gun surrounded by US soldiers. http://www.life.com/timeline/24881/imag ... ts#index/9
Could these guns have been used as LAG as on the Atlantikwall and not by AT units ?

Here's another view of a French 47mm gun at Gela. I think these particular 47mm guns were used by the mobile group that counter-attacked Gela on 10 July 1943. If so, they were in an AT gun company.

Re: 4.7 cm PAK 36 (t) (ex-czech M-36)
I was wondering if anyone might know the following information regarding this picture:
http://forum.axishistory.com/download/f ... &mode=view
(1) What infantry division is it from, it looks like their insignia is a tree?
(2) A guess where it might have been taken at?
(3) Hard to tell, any guesses as to the type of truck?
Thank you in advance.
Michael
