Bunker optics
Hi All,
thought it was perhaps interesting to start a topic on bunker optics.
Don't think we ever discussed this topic extensively. I will post some pics
later on !

Hi,
Indeed I know the whereabouts...
The photo was made on the diningroom table of my parents house.
There are indeed several lenghts of this type of optic.
For example the Pz.B.W.F.12 was used in 486P2 turrets.
The Pz.B.W.F.5 was not really used on a tripod. They were placed on a special plate
which could be mounted to a fixation on the turret wall. The optic looks a bit like a
Richtkreis, perhaps that is want you mean. Apparantly the Pz.B.W.5 was used in pairs
in the 89P9 turret. There is also a second type of the Pz.B.W. 5-optic, which can be seen
on Robert Jurga's drawing of this turret. Because the head of my periscope is slightly damaged
I don't know if the exact designation could be 5a for this type and 5 for the 'Jurga' one
Cheers,
Peter
Will try and look for a photo of the mounting-plate.

Hallo,
The Pz Winkel optics (Z-shape in Uk?) for fixed fortifications,
come in two versions, I think.
1. The Busch type has, as far as known, four different
lengths, numbered 7, 8, 9 and 12.
The higher the number, the shorter, so the thinner the cupola/plate.
See the pic "collection" of Bunkerbehoud.
2. The Zeiss types exist at least in three lengths.
See the pic "zeiss" taken from their website.
The pic "shop" shows a PzB.W.F. 9, taken fully apart to
clean it from the "fungus opticalus germanicus", an organisme
that feeds on the minerals in the glass. The result of this parasite
after over 60 years, can be seen in the item on the M132 on the
Channel Islands.

Hallo,
It goes on.
Chazettes "Armements et Ouvrages" on page 33, shows the
sorts of mountings for Busch and Zeiss.
The Busch mounting, the birds-bill, is shown in the pics
below.
Has anyone pics of the Zeiss mounting ?
