Helo All
Maybe a little bit of Topic but were there also "beute"optics used
for example for the 400 serie and some bunker from the 600 serie (t).
But were there also French , Russian , Dutch or Belgian optics used
by the German Army in and around bunkers ?
I know that for sure that foreign rangefinders and antiaircraft gun directors
were used , but these were eayer to adapte in and around bunkers .
Regards Jos

Hallo,
Optics are hot, but good info is hard to find.
Tips:
A website on the DoppelFernrohr (DF):
http://german.binoculars.over-blog.org/
(french)
A large collection of pictures:
http://community.webshots.com/user/gruasdealba
Scroll down to Dienstglas and deeper.
Take your time.
Official Zeiss archive:
http://www.zeiss.de/archive
Direct linking to a page on
this website is not possible.
So give it a try from the index.
(virtual museum is an option)
In a few days there will be info on a new website
with german optics, special for fortifications, in English.

As an example, here is a French 8 meter rangefinder left by the Germans in Norway......I know that for sure that foreign rangefinders and antiaircraft gun directors
were used , but these were eayer to adapte in and around bunkers .
But, is the label changed by the Germans, or is it made under German control during the war??
Erik

Hi,Valtoro wrote:Interesting post!
Can anyone identify this periscope?
From a SK personnel bunker built around 1942.
/valtoro.
this perisope was originally used in czech light objects (pilboxes) Mk. 37. You can find more information here: http://www.rudolec.cz/forts/f_light.php

Re: Bunker optics
Seems to be a semi-permanent mount, rather than the "up periscope" counterweighted type: earlier, later or just different?

Re: Bunker optics
Hi Guys,
Agree with your observation on that one. Normally the Pz.Rbl.F.5 (panzer rundblick fernrohr) has the steel column for the device to clamp to (just like our one at La Mare).
Perhaps this photo is from a "Drieschartenturme" rather than a "sechschartenturm"?? The eyepiece arrangement also looks wrong for a Pz.Rbl.F.5, the sides of the unit normaly have wheels with small handles on them, but this photo looks more like full on handles.
There is a shorter version of the SR-9 bunker periscope called an SR-4 (or it's variant the SR-4a), rumoured to possibly have been used in MG cupolas, could this photo be an example?
I've seen a lot of optics and every once in a while normal conventions are thrown out the window in favour of some local variable.
A very intriguing photo and may I say well taken considering how cramped conditions are in a cupola!
cheers
