french railway gun
Re: french railway gun
Thank you, EPOCH3
Here, another image from Ebay. I know it is difficult from this angle, but...Can anyone identify the model ?
Perhaps an 320mm Mle 1870-93 ??

Re: french railway gun
Hello,
Yes, it is a 320 modèle 70-93 on sliding mount.
In 1914, official name: 32 cm modèle 1870-93.
In 1939, official name: 320 modèle 70-93.
These guns were made mostly in 1899 and 1900 for use in coast batteries.
Yours sincerely,
Guy François.

Hi all,
Are these two "Breslau" railway guns the same?

Re: french railway gun
As discussed previously in this thread, the "Breslau" marking appeared on different railway guns:

Re: french railway gun
This is not a true railway gun but a tracked self propelled 194 MM french weapon being transported on a railway car. It could not be fired from this car.
Re: french railway gun
Just want to add to this. I have recently seen photos of two 32 cm K(E) 652(f) captured by US troops in Germany. At least one has very clear German markings (including the two stars next to each other which the Germans placed on their railway guns). Will give location and date tomorrow.Manuferey wrote: ↑26 Apr 2014, 04:34See the line "32 cm K(E) 652(f) "bei Mitte" with the 400 shots available in October 1944 in the following table. 4 more guns were available ("insts. fähig" = „instand fähig“ ? this gun was in action at least until End of November (at October 1944 there was a total of ammunition of 400)

And yes I am sure these are not the 32cm 651(f) as the barrels are different from the 651(f) and match those associated with the 32cm 652(f) in Guy Francois’s book on French railway artillery (including the reinforced muzzle).
Re: french railway gun
To add to my post above, I can confirm that both 32 cm K(E) 652(f) guns have German markings. The photos were taken on 19 April 1945 but the location is not very legible; it reads Pussing or Pussig. There is also a le canon de 340 B Modele 12 in the photo but not clear as to markings.
