Re: The "Destroyed bunkers" thread
Good evening guys,
in Bonn, the former west german capital last friday the demolition of a big airraid shelter code BL4 started. It will take some time and I will follow the progress and post images of it. Today I talked to one of the guys of the demolition company. He explained that due to the surrounding houses they drill holes into the roof, bring in some small demolition charges, explode this ones and than the big caterpiller will crack of the loose parts of the roof and wall.
No chance to stop it, so just document it............
Regards
Daniel

Re: The "Destroyed bunkers" thread
On top of BL4 there was a smal one man shelter used as a observation post. This small structure was taken off the roof before the destruction. Maybe this one will be saved? Note the basement of the observation post and the small caterpiller to drill the holes into the roof.

Re: The "Destroyed bunkers" thread
The progress of destruction is quite slow. The images from yesterday and today show the status. I wonder if the contractor was aware of the strength of this piece of concrete when we made his offer to the bunkerowner.
)) Note the change of colour from the concrete of the wall to the concrete of the roof. Looks like they made a stop during its construction.

Re: The "Destroyed bunkers" thread
Here are some more images from yesterday. It's really a expensive and slow progessing job to do. And why is it neccessary? They want to build an office complex on this location. Quite strange reason, as the owner of this area is the cities power supply company with many other properties in and around Bonn.

Re: The "Destroyed bunkers" thread
Good evening gentlemen,
at the end of last week the progress of destruction looked like this. An interesting detail to note: There were two upper parts of a 436P01 or 437P01 door build in, that closed the stairways to the rooftop to get to the Splitterschutzzelle, that served as an air raid observation post.
