Orland in Norway where heavly fortificated during the war. Up to now all installations where secured, but now the wind have changed and it seems like the military in this area are taking on the huge task to demolish about 40-60 bunkers of all kinds, small and big.

In the map there are five areas where they are too demolish. earth and seeds will be plantet over the bunkers to make it look like nothing happened. This may be a little place far north, but keeping the bunkers are importaint for the history.

Hi !

What's sad new ! Orland is really an interresting area, and it is strange that Norvegian authority want to desmolish bunkers : why nobody try to work in a project of "historical tour", including the masterpiece of the area, battery orlandet. And the battery Orlandet herself, with the strategic goal of Orland as "checkpoint" of Trondheim fjord explain also the existence of all these fortifications. I think that some people could explain to authority the historical value of these bunkers, not only because the events of world war II, but also because many buildings were re-use during cold war (because of the Orland air base). The other aspect is the people "used" by German as labour forces for the building, people from Eastern europe : these bunkers are also a part of this memory.

Just a picture of the only small monument about the memory of Russian and Serbian labour forces used by German in Orlandet. I took the picture in august 2005.

Hallo,

The sad story goes on.
Demolished:

Type: 118a
City: Noordwijk, Netherlands.
Why: hhmm, new houses ?
When: Valentins day 2007.

A double loss as it was used by the civil defence
in the cold war and that interior was still present.

Lenco,

Hi bunkerdudes...........sad news.........
The 668 in Wn 207 Goeree has lost its Tobruk, the former owners have moved to a elderly home of passed away (they were two old brothers that worked on the german bunkers when they were young) the new owners are building a new house and the Tobruk had to be removed (it is about 10-15 metres away from the house).
The nice thing is that a small MG or obsevationpost (have to check in my maps) that was not to be seen thru the sand is visible now.
The brick tobruk and some other brick buildings (room for supplies-living quarters) are not touched.

Dear Friends,

Others bad news from Le Havre.
- The tunnel complex "Malpertus", vf bunkers and concrete houses build on the top of "Bois des Marettes" will be destroyed in few weeks now, for building the last part of the northern ring of Le Havre. The former wooden area where the bunkers are is now clean of threes and bushes for building the tracks ;
-The regelbau M168 still existing in the harbour of Le Havre (forme de l'Eure) will be destroyed to in a couple of month, for a urban project of the city.

I will post some pictures in a couple of days.

Regards from France,

Sébastien Haule
