Marine-Schule Brest

#1

Post by jopaerya » 08 Nov 2006, 20:53

Hello All

According to some books and internet sites there is a Seekommandantstand
near Marine Schule Brest at the right side of the Marine Schule on the left
side there is the same bunker build also 2 levels and this is called a hospital-
bunker .

On air reconnaissance photo's from 1944 ( Blue Chazette ) there are red crosses painted on both bunkers and in the Kampfanweisung Festung Brest from 1944
there are 2 bunkers the West- and Ostbunker at the Marine Schule with both a
operation-room and a total capacity of 800 persons .

Who knows more about these bunkers , hospitals or Seekommandantstand???

Regards Jos

Bonjour
Ii's not easy to answer to your question because both bunkers are reused by French Navy and are re painted, but "hypothesis" that Chazette talk about in his book : the right bunker was used first like bunker command. Because in the small bunker build in the right there is always toilets and bathroom and you know that "oficiers supèrieurs" whant to have easy life (more that NCO or private  ) and in the begining of Brest Festung they modified the bunker into hospital. If we can have aerial photo of Marineschule before or aroud 1943 we -perhaps- can see red cross or not .

hi,
painted in 42 and 43 yes I think.the photo date of the engagements, in 1944, but I is another who do not have a date or one sees the compartment with the cross opposite.
one also knows that in certan bunker for hospital German one builds toilets and other èquipement of luxury, as the shelters which is with the fluplazt lanm bihouè.festung Lorient.

OK Jos
2 hypotesis:
- the SeeKo bunker is the small one right near right red cross bunker
- SeeKo bunker was little more Nort East these 2 bunkers (down left on the photo)
