Maybe some Soviet captured weapon.shultz wrote: ↑15 May 2021, 18:01Hy Nuyt, that's not a 75/13!nuyt wrote: ↑13 May 2021, 20:03Indeed. I also think the Obice is possibly without its wheels (after all it was pack) and resting with the front of the box trail carriage on the earth. There is dirt below the shield and between the ammo boxes, so the lower end of the box trail might be resting on the floor of the dugout or hanging on the edge (so the crew sit in the dugout. The shield might be non regular one, field adaptation perhaps.
I know this Skoda howitzer very well personally, there is a piece in the museum of my city (and I have helped to restore it) and there are others within a few kilometers from my house; and I can rule that "the thing" is NOT a 75/13, even if reduced to scrap .
I'm sorry, the mystery still remains .

Re: Unknow gun
Hi, I finally managed to find a more defined copy of the photo that originated this thread, and also a new photo taken at the same time.
The destroyed gun now clearly looks like a Russian 45mm (vertical sliding breech, tubular carriage tails, and the shape of the trail spades).
The photos are taken from the site "acs.beniculturali.it" (central archive of the Italian State) and the caption of the two photos says "Russia, spring 1942".
Best regards, Shultz.

Re: Unknow gun
Hello,
It is a 38 cm SKL/45 on Anschiessgerüst. Only two carriages of this model were used, all in Verdun aera.
One at "Ferme Sorel" from 1915 to 1918, the other in "Bois de Muzeray" in 1915-1916 years.
The main target was the town of Verdun.
The 38 cm SKL/45 on Anschiessgerüst 29°had a maximum range of only 27.000 meters (the gun in Bettungsschiessgerüst 45°permit 38.000 meters range with the same shell).
Here, the 38 cm SKL/45 of "Ferme Sorel" in 1917:

Hello
I have seen this before, but can not find it again - what gun is this?
Schould be from France 1940, maybe Dunkirk, but not sure.

Hi all,
I am not sure about this Romanian artillery piece. Could it be an 10cm Skoda M1934 howitzer ?

Re: Unknow gun
Well, the two guys in the photo don't look like they're in German uniform more like Japanese or Chinese while the gun looks about 15 cm in size and pre-WW 1 in design (no apparent recoil system other than possibly an inclined plane).
Re: Unknow gun
Yes I think Japanese soldiers.
The breech seems the Krupp type....

Re: Unknow gun
I agree on that. It looks like the one Krupp was using from about 1890 to about 1910, give or take. It looks like a Krupp M1885 15 cm gun

That's one that was emplaced by Turkey. Note the two square 'ears' near the breech and the decking of the platform.

Re: Unknow gun
There are two photos on page 6 of this thread that show identical guns to the one in the photo above. Notice how the trunnions have that curved square look next to the barrel and the identical 'ears' at the breech end of the gun.
