Seen it before, possibly the Henschel 10,5cm Eisenbahn Flak, late ww1?

Re: Unknow gun
Hi,
jopaerya published a most interesting photo on 17th January. Looks like a grenade launcher, with the muzzle resembling the Taubin 40,6mm tube (although largely extended, and opened sideways). The handwheels look german, and it probably was intend for fortifications. Could this be related to the extremely elusive DWM automatic grenade launcher from 1941?

Re: Unknow gun
Yes, the photo is extremely interesting indeed! I'd love to know, what it actually is...
My notices - these two massive coil springs seem to form an equlibrator, so the "barrel" was apparently rather heavy, or something heavy was to be placed in or on the "barrel".
I'm not too sure if the thing was intended to launch any kind of a projectile. There's no provision for any sights and one pair of the openings is extremely close to layer's hands and knees. The layer is not protected against any blast as well.

Re: Unknow gun
Hi Grzesio,
do you have a hunch of what it is? To be a grenade launcher recoil should(could) be assured by a inner spring (it does seem to be the case).
The DWM grenade launcher was trialled with smaller caliber ammo, with a cylindrical magazine, but this could be an hitherto unknown "big brother".

Re: Unknow gun
I was thinking hard, but I have no idea!
There's a crank on the side of the "barrel", as well as some pipe (placed rather off-centre) visible inside in the 3rd opening from the muzzle. I'd say, if anything was to be placed inside the "barrel", it couldn't basically go deeper then the 3rd pair of openings.
The whole construction seems to be pretty rigid, with no provision for recoil absorbers or so... There's a plate on the "barrel", leading me to a suggestion, it is a standard equipment... We don't even have clues about time or place the photo was taken. Judging from the uniforms, it is the earlier part of the WW2 though.

Re: Unknow gun
I agree with the uniforms, the setting could probably be eastern Europe. Something that also puzzles me is the "fixed" emplacement of the weapon amidst a plain ground, devoid of any fortifications.
Re: Unknow gun
Could it be a big flare launcher?

I'm found this photo in ebay.de today. Are these guns bofors model 27 105 mm? I suppose they are captured dutch guns.
