Re: Unknow gun
According to the Ebay caption at Dunkirk , but could this be Fort de Pelee at Cherbourg with 190 mm Mle 1875/76 ??

Re: Unknow gun
Jos,
This is Fort Chavagnac (or Fort de Chavagnac depending on the sources since its name comes from Comte de Chavagnac (count of Chavagnac) who surveyed the area in 1787). The tall building in the middle no longer exists and seems to have been destroyed during the war. But it can be seen on the picture on page 27 of Alain Chazette's book "Les batteries de côte en Normandie - 1939-1944".
Fort de l'Ile Pelée was armed with 4 x 27 cm Mle 1881 while Fort de Chavagnac had indeed 4 x 19 cm Mle 1875-76 guns.
Note in the foreground the remain of a 40 mm Bofors AA gun abandoned by the British in June 1940.

Re: Unknow gun
Base on the breech, mount and particularly the recoil system this appears to be a French 75 MM SM M1928 dual purpose submarine deck gun. I have seen very few pictures of this weapon and this is the first emplaced on land. The drawing below is from: Naval Weapons of WWII, John Campbell, 1985, pg 307.

Re: Unknow gun
Here is a second shot of the piece as normally mounted on a French submarine. I got the pic off the internet and have no idea what site it came from.

Picture of 75 MM SM M1928 gun could be taken in Poland 1939. Poland bought 4 pcs before war to use it on boards of minelayers. 3 pieces were replaced to auxhillary permanent coast batteries when ships were damaged, one piece sunk with ship.
