I can't believe anyone thought that kind of AA gun was useful at all, i am talking about 8cm.M05. Not even a pedestal mounting.

It looks like the barrel of a French "220 mm Long Mle 1917 Schneider" gun.

While cleaning up I found 2 pics I took somewhere in Luxembourg country 20 years ago.

I have no idea what this could exactly be. My first guess would be a small pak without wheels...

Thanks for IDing this poor piece of history.
Regards

Hubert

Hello Jos,
Thanks for uploading .
10,5 cm Ubts. u. Tbts. Flak L/45 in Ubts. u. Tbts. L. C/16
This gun have a vertical breech wedge and the Ehrhardt have a
horisontal breech wedge opening to the right . You can also see
it by the curved shield above the gun barrel from between the breech
towards the trunnions .

It seems this gun was too big for such a small ship as shown at the photo. IMHO, it could be dangerous for its own ship... :?

Hi Ludvig

Is this the same type of gun as in Jos's thread http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=165497 ?

Hello ,
to Aleks :
Mant times in the naval history bigger and bigger guns
were pressed int the same small hull . Most of small
units of German Navy in WW1 used different 8,8 cm
and 10,5 cm . The gun is too long and big to be
a 8,8 cm .
To Clive :
your question is a good one , but the the tread is dealing
with the mobile German Army AA on trailers .
To Jos :
Thank you very much for the 10,5 cm UTO C/16 from
Zeebrugge WITH a the curved top shield . Seen many
photos of the Zeebrugge without top shield - - -
* MKB JUl have top shields ( from Albatross )
* MKB Zeebrugge without / with top shields ???
* MKB Terre Negre with top shields
* Belgian CD at Zeebrugge with top shields
But Möve - class is often sailing without the top shields

Hello Ludvig

For Zeebrugge , yes you are right most photo's are without the "U-boot" shield .
As you know some of the guns were used by the Belgian Army as coast defence
between the 2 world-wars .

Also the M.K.B. La Verdon , on the other side of the Gironde river used the
10,5 cm Ubts. u. Tbts. Flak L/45 in Ubts. u. Tbts. L. C/16 , here a photo from
Alain Chazette from the M.K.B. Terre Negre with the shield on top of the gun .
