I think that Peter made a typo in his first post , he corrected the
data as you can see on his post ( the last line ) after my post .

So what you both end up saying is at "547" whatevers Range = 50 metres?

Great stuff, and much clearer, but what is the "547"??

Thanks, Jos

Hello Jos,

Sorry for being thicker than a grade 'A' bunker ( ) But I don't understand what the '853 barrel elevation' and '547' barrel elevation part of the range means

I have never seen a elevation described in anything than standard degrees (0 to 360)

I guess that '853' is the same as 48 deg. and that '547' equals 85 deg. But what scale is being used to get '853' and '547' :?

Malcolm

Hello Malcolm

New Avator ( nice bunker) the information is from a book that Peter H.
has so you have to try to reach him for the actual facts on this one .

Thank you Jos,

The Avator is of the R634 (Kevin's bunker) at Stp. Corbiere and I 'borrowed' it from him :) I am waiting for my requested one to be approved :D
The 319th Avator was a bit bright for my liking

the designation about the barrel elevation is, I suppose, specific to the M19 ?
here a picture of te graduated arch from the elevation mechanism.
You can see three scales. The one to the right is the one which
should match with the barrelelevation.

it was just a part of a dismantled M19 laying around in some
battery 8-)

No concrete plans to salvage the M19. It's a big wish, but at this moment
too difficult to execute because of the current condition of the bunker.
Perhaps in some years...

Arthur,

Indeed Norway is beautiful ! 8-)

Nectar.
The 633 in Vlissingen was entered only once
in 1991. Some collegues of mine visited the bunker and
a private collector unfortunately took out some stuff :x
However, the weapon is still restorable I think.

regards,
I heard that the mortar is still loaded with a bomb stuck in the breach and the barrel in the closed position 8O

Do you know if this is true Peter :?

Hi M.

this was a story that went around at the time based
on the fact that the speedometer was set on Feuerbereit
and the barrel is on the closed, lowered position.
However, it's not true. As far as I can tell the weapon is
not loaded.
Loading and firing a grenade was done in one 'action',
after wich the barrel was empty again.
