Hi all,

Does anybody know if the M19 is still in place in the Cite d'Aleth at St. Malo and was its turret used as a 'Test Target' like the 6-Shartenturmen by the Americans once the Germans has surrendered?

I have found the position of it in the middle of the fort but as it's buried there is nothing to see :(
 As it's a campsite I could put a tent over it and start digging

Thanks in advance :)

Malcolm,

As far as I know it's still a big ???? wether the m19 is
still in place. The turret got a hollow charge during one
of the attacks on the Cité. How far the weapons was damaged is not
documented. Also, now the bunker is only 'accesible' via a climbing
shaft up from the tunnel system. Unfortantely the wooden staircace
has rotted away and as far as I know noone managed to climb up there
(at least I never heard of it).

Hi all,

Anybody know what went 'here' in the corner of the ammunition room ???

There is a wire and fuse that goes to 'it' from the junction box next to the Schwungscheibe which I have seen in most 633's

 My money would be on a large battery for the 24 volt turret system.
Can anybody confirm this or have any ideas :?

It certainly does belong to "a collector in Guernsey" Malcolm..yes it's me again..Ian .
Not sure if these pics were taken by me, but it certainly did come from Jersey via P.le.V's collectors shop..a good few years ago, took quite some doing to get it back in li'l Joey .
Couldn't believe it, t'was just sitting there on it's side on the floor, read the top plate and thought Bl**dy hell how much must that be worth..£35'ish ..bargain ..bought .
Might end up in our M19 if Paul gets the go ahead to open up Fort Hoummet, along with the Loading table (in MNO at the mo), yes it was my Citroen that almost collapsed under the weight of transporting "that Bench" all those years ago .
Once again, sorry to have taken the Jersey item out of Jersey, was suprised that P.le V hadn't asked if anyone wanted it before selling it in the shop.
Cheers all..Ian "Feind-hort-mit"

:o P. le. V is also my cousin :x

   You can't win them all!!!

The photos came from Terry O'Brien. I'm guessing you won't part so is there any chance of getting the size of the crate so I can make a copy for La Corbiere :D

A BIG thank you 'Feind-hort-mit' for parting with the M19 tool chest after a lot of bartering! :D
Always great to bring an original Stp. Corbiere item back home 8-)

I hear you guys (Guernsey) have got the go ahead to open up the 633 at Fort Hommet but are also plannng to re-build a replica turret :o Better get my turret fitted first so I can put the M19 tool chest in it :P Nothing like a bit of healthy inter-island competition, btw have you 'broken the news' yet that the crate is back in Jersey?

Malcolm

Took you long enough to put some pics up Malcolm !! 8O , a few of the chaps are aware of the swap :( , however they are happy for me to have the Phone etc to copy for there site, we all win me thinks.
What they have to do is get the rivetted-on instructions..from the winder box back..from the chap who wrenched them off on the last trip inside !!, plus..unless memory fails..Ian has a big Bolt fom the same trip..will help hold it all together   .
Cheers again mate, Ian (feind-hort-mit).

Who nicked those plates from the Schwungscheibe (winder box)???
I wouldn't mind getting my hands on the cut up M19 turret floor sections in the photo below which are still in the 633 at Stp. Langenburg......but you would know where to look first!

Hello Kurt :) ..I know it's a while ago, but I wonder if you are the photographer / owner of the interior M19 pics on the linked page ?.
I would like to link to one of them to a thread containing the info on the linienfernsprecher.
Thankyou for your time, Regards..Ian "feind-hort-mit"

I do not know what your eluding to Malcolm . 8O ..no I really don't..I wasn't on that..um..trip inside :x .

So much equipment will be required for the M19 if it all goes to "Festung Guernseys" plan.
I have to mention that PB was horrified to hear about the missing toolbox, but instead they now have the linienfernsprecher to copy, good luck to them I say..it's taken a good while for them to get the okay, and all the lads have been doing such a great job at Scharnhorst..(although I havn't been up there yet !!)..i'm sure they can do a great job on the M19.
Cheers for now..Ian "feind-hort-mit".

Hi Ian,

It sure will be a major job for Festung Guernsey as the M19 at Fort Hommet has far more severe structural damage caused by the removal of the turret than Stp. Corbiere's plus the turret room here was still accessable and roofed over, not completely back filled like Guernsey's :( But if anybody can pull off such a major restoration project then the Festung Guernsey Team can, look at the restoration of Batterie Scharnhorst, Batterie Dollmann etc 8-)

A few of us from Stp. Corbiere are planning to come over to give Festung Guernsey team a hand on the 'big dig' when it happens (spanners in hand!  )

Below are 2 photos from when the 633 at Fort Hommet was opened in January 1996 for inspection and taken from CIOS Review No. 24.

Regards,
Malcolm

My pictures again.. 8-) , any republishing / copyright fees coming my way  .
Any help you can give them will be much appreciated i'm sure..but with your hands in your pockets (just in case of any missing M19 things) how do you intend to help them .
Ian B has my original set of pics, when I get them back.. :( I will scan them and post if anyone wants to see them ?.
Cheers for now..Ian. "feind-hort-mit".

ps, Malcolm, do you know who took the M19 in situ pics / previous question ?, copyright / re-use question etc ?.

pps, Just think..RH could have bought an M19 instead of his 4.7cm..wrong decision maybe ??.
