Further to my last post. when talking to a famer who lived close to the range near Cherbourg he told me that the German's had used sacks filled with sand as well as the concrete bombs. He also said the target area was covered with chalk to help the crews see their results more clearly.
Best wishes john

With reference to the use of chalk, at Ashley Walk bombing range, New Forest, Hampshire, UK, they used chalk to mark out the targets. These chalk marks show up today. http://www.atlantikwall.co.uk/atlantikw ... page01.htm . Built on this bombing range is a large concrete structure made to resemble a U-boat pen. It is still there with many craters of near misses.

Hello

The function of the bunkers at Fecamp and Mont Etolain is the same
as the bunkers in Holland and Denmark , but it looks that the lay-out
or plan of the bunker is different .

Hi Jack,

Yes, but it is not vissible. It is a bunker on a 'buitendijks' place.

There is also a small observation bunker at the Sulzheim bombing range. It has been modified somewhat (the site is still a US Army training area), but I believe the basic structure is WW2.
