Re: Westwall
Congratulations Arthur,
this is really an interesting picture. I have never seen a picture of a 40P8 at the Westwall before.
Any inscription on the backside?

Re: Westwall
Hello Jos
Well even if it looks like an old fort, it is really a part of the Westwall.
We see a part of a so called "Panzermauer". Directly (and for sure wrong...) translated it would be "Tank wall".
Anway it is a concret wall, build in front of a up hill position as a part of a anti tank defence system, in a combination with the the typical "Panzerhöcker". Actually nothing really unusual an several times used in the german Westwall.
Interesting are the little wholes in the small ( concret ? ) line in front of the little ditch. Maybe for the use of sticks (wood or metall) and to attach barbed wire there later. Maybe....
Those anti tank walls had been build when it was necessary to protect uphill positions against tanks, but not only in those cases.
I hope I could help a little bit.

Re: Westwall
Hello guys,
this is no picture taken along the Westwall. It looks like a swiss defence system.
Greetings

Re: Westwall
Thanks Erik
First I was thinking it was a 3-schartenturm because if you look in the back
not a ideal place for 360 observation , the 21P7 should fit very well .

Re: Westwall
If it's only one way it's better to have such a low profile.
I would go for a 441P01 with three Winkelfernrohre in the front and one in the back.

Re: Westwall
Like Arthur,
I think also that this picture shows a 441P01, because the distance between the two visible holes for the observation oculars seems not to fit with the distance in a 21P7.
This is a quite interesting picture. I have never seen a ruined R 120 / 121 where the turret itself was lowered in a way that the concrete is visible in the back.
Greetings
Daniel

Re: Westwall
Hello,
did you notice the "Werk 28/24" above the entrance?
Is it possible to identify the bunker by that number?
