Hello

No - I dont think thats an option.

They write "Schwere Brocken an Kanal" - that indicates Calais - Boulogne area, does´nt it?

38 cm of Batterie Todt - made by Hanomag - Crane?

#33

Post by wimve » 12 Sep 2011, 18:35

A little off topic:
Does anyone have (detailed) information about the cranes that where in use while building these heavy guns ? Pictures and maybe maybe drawings ?
Indeed for a 3D project in combination with the Hanstholm batteries. :) :)
Thanks,

Wim

For those of you with interest in Hanomag, here is also a German language thread on the firm and their production:

Just found something else in connection to this theme in the 'Gegen Engeland Frontzeitung', February 1940. This seems to be a brand new 38 cm shell, in the factory. Is this correct?

Unless it is a small man, I would rather say it a 40,6 cm shell, as the 38 cm shells measure between 164 and 172 cm.

Yes, they were smaller. But if it was a 38 cm shell he could at most be 1,6 m tall (notice his clogs!)

Due to the date of the journal, I guess it can only be the "Todt" battery, as it was the first battery emplaced with heavy S.K.C/34 guns. In Hanstholm and Hela the digging had hardly begun at that time.
