Hello All

The gun on the photo is typical French but what about
the Lafette is it also French or it's German made .
This type of gun and lafette were also used for coast-
defence late in the 1944 .

Photo's = Ebay.de

Hello All

Looking at this photo of the 7.5 cm Pak 40 M there are a lot of
similarity's of this lafette and the ones on the previous photo's
apart from the extra shield and the number of the L.C. 39/43 .
Based on this photo I presume that the Lafette C./39 and C.39/43
are both German made.

This Sockellafette reminds me of the ones used by the germans for the 10,5 cm K 331 (f) on the british channel islands. It is for sure none of the designs like Sockellafette I - IV.

Hello

My own guess would also be that the mount is of German manufacture, but I have no actual proof.

In Chazettes book about artillery in the Atlantikwall in France you can find the 75 mle. 97 on pedestal mount, but these are of a quite different type.

Best regards
Jens

Can`t call it a proof, but the similarities between the photos posted here and the traversing mechanism of a BhSkL for 5 cm KwK seems to be more than just a coincident!

A picture from ebay.de of the same type of gun and what looks like the same pedestal as on the island of Bornholm (Jen's picture) but viewed from the opposite side.

Here is a picturefrom Bundesarchiv showing the gun with a shield on a Siebelfähre. A piece of the round base of the C/39 Lafette is visible.

In this pictures from ebay, the optical devices attached to the gun are clearly visible:

In http://www.superborg.de/mdv150.htm, there is a mention of the gun in “Merkbuch über die Munition für die
7,5 cm Feldkanone L/36 M/97 in Radlafette für die Küste u. Bordlafette C/39.

HI

I agree with Jos' earlier remark about the similarity of the Lafette for the F.K.M. 97 and the Pak 40. To me they seem to be identical.

Compare attached photos of a 7,5 cm Pak 40M recently "emplaced" at Bangsbofort/DK.

Hi Wim

Yes, it is done very nicely by pensioned weapons mecanics.

Only, I think it is a shame to place it outside in the rain.
