I think it's just lens distortion. Look at the funnel, the deck planking. I'd say it is the same ship. The photo numbers are 2249 and 2252.
The enemy had superiority in numbers, his tanks were more heavily armoured, they had larger calibre guns with nearly twice the effective range of ours, and their telescopes were superior. 5 RTR 19/11/41

How do you explain that the deck planks don't show that distortion? If you prolong the deck planks they disappear in the side rails, not converge with them.

That is what i think too. Still seems too elaborated for an adhoc system so maybe it was designed from outsed that way?

It does not look like ad hoc transport system. You can fix the barrel in many ways, without constructing such a complicated device. It is only my theory, but it looks like a shock-absorber, which halt the barrel softly, when it moves from the higher elevation to the horizontal position. Maybe for some special use, where the negative elevation is dangerous (?).

Hi Ludvig

I saw this photo too , but on the other picture's in that and this topic it's missing ??
You see this sometimes on mechanised artillery, to fix the barrel during travel .

The fact that we do not see this device on pictures of this gun in its combat position makes me thing that the device is just a locked extensible cylinder installed here to lock the barrel in place during heavy handling. It would protect in particular the recoil system from extensive wear and tear and hydraulic leaks, just like barrels of mechanized artillery or tanks as Jos mentioned, as the recoil system would otherwise have to act as a continuous shock absorber with high frequency/low amplitude motion, which it is not designed to do.

Hello
Some of the KM units in Bergen had a 7.5 cm BKM/97.
At one of the sites there is a position i havt been able to figure out. Could this be a position for a BKM/97 ?

Nice picture. Any idea what kind of vessel that might be, and/or location?
