H.K.A.A.1255
Re: H.K.A.A.1255
Hello Sam
Good to see you here, first in Holland also units of the H.K.A.A. were used as batterie's inland near Arnhem.
viewtopic.php?f=70&t=124009&hilit=arnhem but I could not find any information
in my files on 12.2 cm guns in the H.K.A.A. 1255 in 1944. What I could find is the s.A.A. 555 with 12.2cm s.F.H. 396 (r)
transferred from Holland to the LXXXVI A.K. in june 1944. I have seen several times that for instance 1./555 were called 1555
that could be the explanation of the s. used for the H.K.A. in the document above, the only problem is they only had 12 guns ???
No fact but just a thought.
Regards Jos

Re: H.K.A.A.1255
I./Pz.Art.Rgt. 155 possessed 8 x 12.2 cm sFH396(r) on D-Day if I'm not mistaken.
If there were also Elmts of I./155 in the area and If you add 6 x 12.2 cm sFH from I/155 to the 12 of sAA 555, you end up with 18 pcs.

Re: H.K.A.A.1255
That makes more sense. I do have records of POWs of St./s.Art.Abt. 555 being captured in Mondeville on 18.7.44 and an Oberleutnant of 1./s.Art.Abt. 555 being captured in Le Mesnil (NE of Escoville) on the same day, though the latter was well within British lines by that date.
Re: H.K.A.A.1255
Just adding...
I./Pz.Art.Rgt. 155 did indeed possess a total of 8 x 12.2 cm sFH396(r) on D-Day (in 2./ & 3/). However both batteries were lost that day.
However elements of 16 Luftwaffe Field Division were also in the "Goodwood" area on 18July - it's Artillerie Regiment apparently had three batteries (ie. 7./, 8./ & 9./) each with 4 x 12.2cm sFH396(r).

Re: H.K.A.A.1255
Finally found one of the batterie's as I had asked on page 1 , the 6./1255 with three 15.5 cm .
Maybe it was the one gun from 2./1255 , also the 1./1255 is missing two 15.5 cm guns.

Re: H.K.A.A.1255
Hello Emmanuel
There is no date on the map , but it must be after the invasion because the boundary of the
7 Army and 15 Army is on the river Seine and the battery Frascati
