jos,nice discovery about peilstelle ludwig.

I still havent found any info about what it was, except for "heerespeilstelle".
It was located on the cemetery westduin (also ehrenfriedhof and widerstandnest 2H), few years ago during work on the cemetery we found 3 concrete blocks (tuiblokken), there is probably a fourth block hidden, they were in the form of a cross.

Do you have a date for this document?

Gr, Tim

Also nice is the name of the scheinflughafen, "maifeld".
In 1944 this location was widerstandsnest 2aH.

The schaltbunker+ mg stand (covering the fake runway) is uncovered by the atlantikwallmuseum Scheveningen, its the common design found on multiple scheinflughafen in holland.

There were lights along the fake runway, and a fake wooden plane on small track that was controlled from the schaltbunker 8-)

Hi Jos,

Great find, I would also like to have a high res version of this map. It's my hometown afterall ;-)
Is it part of the interrogation report(s) made of the captured U-boot men that served in the Peilstelle?

Regards
Simon

Hi Jos!

Must be a typo.

In April 1944 Saline d' Hyères was definitely a MPNS and it was never listed as a MPHS.
Please see attachment.

The part of the map is from Bonatz "Seekrieg im Äther". It is a bit stange to me too.

Bonatz wrote, after the split of Italy from the Axis in Sept. 1943 the German Navy
SIGINT-service took over a post of the italian SIGINT-service at Saline d' Hyères as
MPHS Saline d' Hyères. (On the map "Italienische FA (Funkaufklärung)" = Italian
SIGINT)
On the map MPNS Saline d' Hyères exsisted before Sept. 43, which is right to me.

It seems, the MPNS was a "guest" at the post of the italians or a bit seperated. The
map seems to be "a little bit wrong". (?)

The position of Port Vendres on the map is wrong too.

The orginal "Maifeld" is the grass field west of the Berlin Olympic Stadium.

Best wishes

Hello Etienne

The green dot Luftwaffe = a unit from the Fliegerhorst-Kommandantur E 16/VII ( airfield Le Havre Octeville ) from 10-1940 till 11-1942
The blue dot Kriegsmarine = there was also a Peilstelle Erika at Wn 47 http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=191003

BTW Thanks Rolf

Hi!

"Erika" was (together with "Emil") an abbreviation for the letter "E", used by Heer,
Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine.

On the map of "Moonraker" the colour of "Peilstelle Erika" is blue for navy. As far
as I know, nobody found the position of MPNS Etretat (maybe just an Adcock-D/F).
In this case, the letter "E" fits with Etretat. So this could be MPNS Etretat, but it
could also be luck.

On the map of Jos F46 (blue circle (Kriegsmarine)) is the Adcock of MPHS Bayeux.
F 47 "Peilstelle Erika" (black circle) seems to be a Peilstelle of the Heer or Luftwaffe.
(What is a black circle for?) This must be s.th. totally different, because it was rare
that Heer, Luftwaffe and Kriegsmarine worked together in SIGINT. Everybody did their
own stuff, even in "counting" their Peilstellen by letters.

Thanks for the map, Moonraker!

Best wishes

A Luftnachrichtenstelle was also responsible for Funkfeuer and Leuchtfeuer.
In SES beacon-bible ( http://www.gyges.dk/Beacon-Bible.pdf ) the roughly
position of Leuchtfeuer or Funkfeuer LENA is just 3 km away from the green
dot.
Just an idea...

Best wishes
