MPNS (Marinepeilnebenstelle) Middelkerke
Hi!
I got two pictures from MPNS (Marinepeilnebenstelle) Middelkerke, which belonged to MPHS Brügge (-Ter Linden).
Picture 1 was the building of the MPNS, the former radio-station Middelkerke. Please note the anti-splinter-wall
on the left side. The two large masts were part of the radio-station. There are no DFs at the pictures, because
it was forbitten to take pictures of them. Here you can see a picture from 1938 without the anti-splinter-wall. In the background you can see "Musee/Museum"
which was painted at the Admiralitätsbunker" from WWI.
Source:
https://www.middelkerke.be/nl/over-midd ... delkerke-0 (Picture is on the right hand side) On Picture 2 is a corner of the fence of the MPNS with the "Admiralitätsbunker" in the background. The "Musee/Museum"-
sign is already painted over. So the area of "Radio Middelkerke" must have been "MPNS Middelkerke" in WWII.
Best wishes
Rolf

Re: MPNS Den Helder / Middelkerke
Hi!
"138 M" was MPNS Den Helder with at least two DF... Here are two more pictures of MPNS Middelkerke. The accommodiation of the soldiers was in this building. Source: Google-Street-View Was it this building? (Just to be sure...)
Best wishes

Re: Marine Peilstelle Ter Linden Brugge
Hello everybody,
The MNPS Middelkerke was located inside the Stp Coesefeld according the document hereunder. The strongpoints were renamed in november 1942 but the Stp Coesefeld seems to have disappeared from the documents and maps of 1943 and 1944
In 1940 and 1941 and begin 1942 the Stp Coesefeld was an infantery strongpoint also sheltering the HQ of the AR 781.
Strangely enough, this part of Middelkerke has been completly forgotten during the inventory of 1946 (although at least 2 bunkers have been built, a HKB leitstand Type 2 (for the AR.781) and in 1944, a 667 flanking the beach).
See GE view for location of all places in relation with the MNPS Middelkerke.

Some items found inside the bunker at Groenenberg:
- ink glass unmarked
- bottom of broken bottle dated 1942; identified Belgium Brasseries Vandenheuvel
- screw cap: identified as English petroleum spirit highly inflammable canister
- porcelain cable knee connector/insulator?: unidentified
Found at the borders of the concrete antenna foundation: porcelain broken parts of cable insulator with 4 points at the ends
Help on unidentified items is most welcome!
