'Basement' of 117

What's the purpose of the room under the left gaslock?
It's connected to the large crew room by a small shaft.
Would make a nice trap. :)
I can add more pictures if needed.

Is it just me, or is the 90 degree opposed rung pattern unusual?

The 631 spent-shell case rooms had an identical trap-door, and the external shield counterweights had a guide and descended into the room, which was also fitted with extraction vents.

This is in a Command post, though?

In which case I suspect a coal-hole if central heating was there.

The two ducts resemble a chimney and its sweeping trunk.

The bolts might have held a water header tank and the flue (the small shaft) have drawn the fresh air in from the ventilated crew area.

My two Euro!

Regards

John Germain

Thanks!
It's the 117 in Hanstholm, I think it's the only one in Northern Europe.

@ JTG
There's a single step on the right wall, the real ladder is on the other wall.
Still not very comfortable to get out there.

SO: It's just the One Step to the Right,
Then the multiple steps to the left...

Then to climb out of the Hole
You swing your hips in tight?

Is a Pelvic Thrust required?
That would really drive me insane!

Let's do the Coal-Hole again!

Hello All

I have no proof but I know that the 117a at Ardres has also
a underground Heizraum but this one is flooded with water .

Oh didn't know that!
They are not listed in Atlantic Wall Typology.

And yes I took almost 30 photos, maybe I'll upload them later today.

Hello All

Sorry to hop in this Topic but for the most Northern 117 , I have looked
on the A.R.N. site and came across a 117 small at Hemnskjell .
Could this be this bunker that I found without a Regelbau number .

Regards Jos

It's a 117a, so your second drawing.
The drawing in Rudi Rolf's book is almost identical.
Only that the room in the upper right corner is designated as '3 Embrasure turret'. :D:D
So thanks for clarifying that. ;)

Hello
There seems to be another variation of the 117.
I addition to the two at ARN there are two in my area. One with turret, and without turret.
I dont have the drawing in front of me now, i used Jos drawings.PerhapsPeter have a drawing ?
With the two drawings from Jos, there seems to be 3 variatons. 4 of same variation in Norway.
regards
stril

TH,

It would be great if you could upload some pictures of
the bunker. Many thanks in advance. I will try and mail
a plan of the 117 verkleinert tonight or tomorrow...

Please see the plan of one of the small 117s in Norway.
There are 4 of them known; the other three are somewhat different
though...
