In the background of Jos' picture you can see Wn 38 (ex- HaH 04) with the signal station (semaphore) and the Hotel Frascati, both destroyed in September 1944. In between, the body of water is the "arrière-port". So, the picture was indeed taken near Wn 45 (ex-HaH 08).

Could these plates with the drawing of a roaring feline be the remains of an S-Boot?

Hi All,

Yes, it is a part of a S-Boot, one of the 4th S-Boot Flotille destroyed during the raid of 14-15th June 1944 over Le Havre harbour.

I tried to identify which one but it's hard.

Dear Jos,

Many many many Thanks ! I'm just moving from Le Havre to Rouen where I live now and it's hard to work on this exhibition about Le Havre harbour during the war in the middle of boxes full of books and documents...

Best regards from...Normandy !

I've realized that the destroyed concrete building in the background is a part of the R-Bunker. :D

In the following webpage of the very interesting website s-boot.net, you’ll see where the two pieces of plate (the coat of arms and the letters “Dieter”) above were on the S-Boot. “Dieter” would have been the first name of the boat captain:

http://s-boot.net/letters4sfltl.html

The same webpage mentions a boat captain with the first name “Dieter”, Obstrm. Dieter Steinhauer, of S 703. However, S 703 was not sunk in Le Havre.
