I know that Alain Chazette has a picture of M.K.B. Griz Nez
with the same camera with telelens , maybe he can post it ?

Yes ,that are the photo's that I meant , the first one taken at Blanc Nez and
the second one in the bettung of the M.K.B. Griz Nez both at Pas de Calais .

The black "tube" in front of the cine camera (Askania, 35mm cine camera) is a 500mm or 1000mm telephoto lens.

Somewhere I’ve seen photos of the Radar masts at Dover taken from across the Channel.

I guess 1000mm lens could have been used. Only 22 miles across the water.

Looks like the soldier on the right put a Leica III with Leica Telyt 5/40cm (400mm telelens) on top of the tube.
