Hi Jos,

The A, B, C, D, E, in the Luftwaffe bunkernumbering means a certain sector of the Dutch coast. A is the northern part and the southern part is E. for example (from north to south):
L487 at 'Tiger', Terschelling has bunkernr: AL10046
L485 at 'Salzhering', Den Helder has bunkernr BL11311
L484 at 'Elektra', Petten has bunkernr BL11632
L435 at 'Wassermann L' Bergen aan zee has bunkernr CL12035
L409 at L'waffe Flak bat IJmuiden has bunkernr CL12302
L409 at L'waffe Flak bat Katwijk has bunkernr. DL13208
L487 at 'Biber' Oostvoorne has bunkernr EL10103

This kind of numbering seems to originate from the Neue Westwall period. During the Neue Westwall period also the Heer and Kriegsmarine used this numbering sytem (as well as L'waffe) for FA, VF and Küver bunkers. For Heer the codes AH to EH were used, for Kriegmarine the codes AM to EM can be found in their FA, VF and Küver bunkers.

After the Neue Westwall period, during the Atlantikwall St Bauprograms, the Heer and Kriegsmarine used a new system of Baunummern for their St bunkers, but L'waffe seemed to stick to the old numbering for their St bunkers.

Best regards, Klaas

Well it should fit? 'E' = Voorne, 'F' (FL) = Schouwen, G = Walcheren.

Hi,

Never seen any document or map describing the zones. But in the docs related to the Neue Westwall the use of the Bauwerk Nr can be found. Please see attached doc, for the use of EH-Bauwerk Nummern for VF- and Küverbunkers in the Hoek van Holland area.

Same is true for the L'waffe St bunkers. On the Baufortschrittskarte the AL, BL, CL etc numbers can be found. Also on various Stellungmaps these bunkernumbers can be found.

One don't have to be a rocket scientist to notice the A, B, C, D number are related to north to south sections of the Dutch coast. However this numbering does not relate to the A1, A2, A3, B1, B2 KVA sections at time of the NWW period.

Best regards, Klaas

Hi Klaas

I am not a rocket scientist , but it's clear to me . This document proves
that also the V.F. bunkers in Holland have there one Bauwerknumber .
The number that I found on Walcheren were there still in 1944 .
The borders could also be from O.T. or Festungpioniere .

Are there any picture's from V.F. bunkers in Holland with those numbers ?

Hi,

Jos, you can find many Vf.-bunkernumbers on the website of the HBP.
e.g. in Menu 2, Helvoet !

Hi,

Also on the Bunkerart site at http://home.hetnet.nl/~thirdreich-bunkers/welcome1.htm some bunkernumber pictures can be found. On the left select the 'Local' from the "Numbering' menu item,Then select 'WBN' at the top. At this site some pics of bunkers at Haamstede with FL number (FL106). So it indeed looks like Schouwen was code F and Walcheren code G.

I think Walcheren is part of this codesystem because during the Neue Westwall period, Walcheren was a part of the WBN KVA B2. Later it became a part of AOK15.

Hi Jos,

Is that 'Biber'-picture still on e-bay? If yes, do you have a link? If it still available, there is a person who is interested in buying the pic.

Best regards, Klaas
