Hi Jos

Just to confuse things they are guns around Antwerp, could they be Belgian (and British) 3.7 inch guns ( 9.4 cm Flak M39 (e)?

Hello Clive

AFAIK most captured 9.4 cm Flak M 39 were used by the Kriegsmarine in naval coast battery's
and there are picture's with captions as you can see in this topic that the French 9 cm was
used as flakdefence for Antwerpen .

If you want to see one of these guns in real life visit the Dynamomuseum at Dunkirk.
We had a free visit and the museum has two French tankturrets and one beauty of a 4,7cm FestungsPak.
If the museum is closed no problem the gun is located in front of the museum and you can visit it always.
It is not very big but well worth the visit!
Website of the museum;

And a picture of the gun;

Manuferey wrote:The 9 cm Flak M.39(f) that protected Antwerp belonged to gemichte Flak-Abteilung 295(v). See here some interesting information included details on one particular battery:

This Flak-Abteilung arrived in Antwerp in 1943. The date of 1943 is indeed mentioned on some of the captions of the ebay pictures on sale. We also learned from captions of the same series of ebay pictures that this Flak-Abteilung was near Abbeville in 1942.

For a short history of gemichte Flak-Abteilung 295(v) see here:

This looks like a more compact weapon than German 88mm? Was its ballistic performance comparable? How many were captured?
