Large Luftwaffe barracks

#1

Post by jopaerya » 31 Mar 2008, 19:53

Hello All

A few Radarposts in the Atlantikwall have no L 479 ot L 487 , for example Wels , Tauzendfussler and Ammer
also in these Radarpost no H 43 are found . Does anyone has a clue how the Seeburg-Tische were used in these
Radarpost . Could there be other barracks , maybe made of wood ??

Hi Jos,
I see no other possibility, but a wooden barrack, unless of course the H 43 had a predecessor, but the H 43 seems to be a construction unique to France.
In the Netherlands there was a Küver Bunker version specially adopted to the Seeburg-Tisch.
In addition to the links above please also see:
http://www.gyges.dk/Flugmeldemess%20Stellungen%202.htm
The 3 links cover all known versions of the Stellungs Zentrale.

There is a similar building as the ones from SES on Flekkerøya outside Kristiansand. This building was the central for the Radar group "Flieder" (http://www.noding.com/la8ak/k51.htm)

Only the blastwalls are still standing, but you have something that could be the fundament for a Seeburg tisch there.

Thanks Tormod

That nice information , we have to search for the fundament for the Seeburg tisch .
Your first photo looks like a cellar and on top of this the wooden structure , because
the Seeburg tisch was very high .

Hi Tormod,
Thank you very much for posting.
And I think you are right. What remains is the Splitterschütz Mauer, which was standard around the T-Hütte.
The concrete chunk is most certainly the foundation for the S-T. Please compare size and position within the building with the picture from ROBBE found here:

Yes, the same type of "T-hütten".
Actually the credit of identifying the Seeburg fundament must go to Erik E

Hi,

The German Nachtjagdstellungen at the Dutch coast had the Küver 424 'Seeburg' bunker in Vf-strength. These were build in 1942 In some loactions (Tiger, Zander, Biber) later a St L487 was added.

Some of the Dutch inland radarstations, like Hering, had a Fa type building (brick wall, concrete roof)

Both Küver 424 and Fa Bunker had a cellar for the Seeburgtisch. Please note only ONE Seeburgtisch was used, later L479 Anton & L 487 Bertha had room for 2 Seebrugtisches. Please see enclosed drawings.

Best regards, Klaas

Hi,
It is a standard Höh.Jafü.West Typ 59. (Richtlinien für den Ausbau von Such-u. Grossuchstellungen für den Tag- u. Nachtjagd im bereich des Höh.Jafü West g.Kdos 20.7.1943). These types of buildings are in the document classified as: "Blockhäuser (Bodenwaffebeschuss-sicher)". Please also see:
http://www.gyges.dk/luftwaffe_radar_sta ... rracks.htm
I have a number of additional drawings, which I will up-load in the comming days.

Hi SES,

Are you sure about the drawing Jos posted is a type 59? Thought the type 59 was the Baracke für Ln-Helferinnen? That one looks different to the drawing Jos posted.

Best regards, Klaas

Hi Klaas,
As I interpret the document there was a Typ 59 as posted by Jos and a H 59, which indeed was the Baracke für Ln-Helferinnen. And they consistently use the expression Typ not Type, one could suspect that Typ was one series of Blockhäuser (Bodenwaffebeschuss-sicher) and the H series was another one. The H-series seems to be Ln specific, the Typ series of a more general nature, as far as I can tell these buildings were also used on airfields. I recently saw an aerial picture of the Betriebsstelle für Funk und Leuchtfeuer at Trollenhagen. And some of the buildings at FlH Grove seems to have the same floorplans as the Typ-series.
But it is a jungle, long live the person who publishes the Regelbau für Luftwaffe Barakken.

Hi SES,

Wouw, 'typ' series baracks an 'h' series baracks! Never knew this, thanks for making this clear. It's indeed a jungle...

Hi Klaas,
Thanks, but as I said my interpretation based one the facts available at this time.
Our French friends have a real mission but the interest on
http://atlantikwall.superforum.fr/index ... e3b1817559 f
on this particular subject is limited to a few die hard Ln-Nerds like us.
