Hi All

I am not to sure that the gun in photos suppiled by Jos is an 18 pdr. Compare the bore diameter with the other photos. It could well be a 25pdr Mk1 on carriage MkVIP, 8.76 FK 281(e). Very hard to tell as the 25 pdr Mk1 was a relined (not bored out as often stated) 18 pdr MkVI on either MkVIP (box trail) or MkVP (split trail) carriages.

Interesting picture (however sad): the helmets on the graves are French.

Do you think these are the graves of guncrew?

The gun doesn't seem to be in a fire position. It may have been brought here for a propaganda picture.

Hi Sturm

They look like a pair of well spiked 4.5 inch Howitzers (11.4 cm le FH 361[e]).

Hi Strum

Generally no there is not. If you have one of each next to each other then you can sometimes tell the 25 pdr from the 18pdr by the wider bore of the barrel. The only other way to tell them apart is if a photo shows the ammunition. The 18 pdr had fixed ammo and the 25 pdr seperate shell and cartridge.
