Hi Jos,

The external wall for entrance's protection is also a very strange feature. It's look like the 8,8 cm Flak bunker build in Le Havre on the Flak batteries on the beach and central mole. The Flak battery Caucriauville is also equiped with Flak bunker with "flanking" wall.

Is there any other strange flak bunker on the German document you put online?

They're all early Luftwaffe designs.
There're more slightly different bunkers in that document.

Hi Jos and others bunker's friends,

I have just documents from SHM Cherbourg and it is situation plans of the bunkers. I think you have these documents Jos. I have somewhere pictures of the bettungs of Flak bunker of Caucriauville battery when they were unearthed before destruction 4 years ago, but unfortunately, the bunker were not opened. Only the bettung were destroyed.

I will post it as soon as possible.

Thanks Sébastien

Great pictures never seen them before , it's a pity that the inside was not opened for examination .
but these are not the bettungen as we now from Pas de Calais from the "Waffenkommission Fest".

Hi Jos and others bunker's friends

Here an extract of a 1957's air photo with the Flak battery build in Le Havre - Caucriauville. Each Flak bunker is equiped with a big concrete wall easily visible on the photo. For me, it should be the same type as the one on Jos document.

Dear Friends,

Here an other extract from an aerial photography of Le Havre Harbor, dated 1943 : you can see the Flak battery Central Mole under construction (final stage). The 6 Flak bunker are easily visible, with the same external wall. The paricularity is the bettung, not build on the roof but by the bunker. For me, we have also here a "strange" L401.

On the right of the picture, you can also see a nice M 123.

Hello

As you can see on the picture's the flakbettungen from have 2 entrance's HaK 023 so it could
not be the flakbettungen from the "Waffenkommission Fest" they have only one entrance .

Photo's = BaMa Koblenz
Drawing = Hans Sakkers

Regards Jos

P.S. the flakbettungen at Caucriauville must have the bettungen on top of
the bunker and Central Mole and Bd. Albert on the side of the bunkers

Here the concrete emplacements in 3./193 ( Boulevard Albert ) , as you can see on the concrete
emplacements at Caucriauville ( photo's by Sébastien ) they the same, Two side walls are straight
and the back and front with the entrance of the gun are slope .
As I stated earlier the concrete emplacements at Boulevard Albert and Mole Central were not build on
top of the bunker but on the side, to get a lower profile. We can see that see that in many Luftwaffe flak
batteries. The Flak batterie at Caucriauville has the emplacement in the "normal" way on top of the bunker.

Regards Jos ( Ebay )

P.S. under and above the barrel you see the bunker, this photo is made early 1943

hello,
this is simple to understand,the bettung is placed next to the bunker ok. Look at the photos of the bunkers they are little sinking into the ground, with the bettung on the roof it would have exceeded a lot on the edge of the quay. The reason is certainly to the infiltration of salt water under the quays which should have filled the rooms in high tide.So the betung put next to it so that the bunker is more on the surface and less sinking.
