Hi Jos. it looks like the turret (T34/76) laying at the ground. The man at the right side could stay at the commander's seat, but more simple he is staying at the ground.jopaerya wrote:Hello All

F.Pz.DT 4010 (leichte MG-Drehhaube f. s.MG 34/42)
Hello,
Does anybody have information about how the F.Pz.DT 4010 (leichte MG-Drehhaube f. s.MG 34/42) looked like?
At least 19 of those were sent to the Westwall late 1944. According to German list dated 26.03.1945, 20 turrets of the same type were sent to Denmark, but that is probably a typo.

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
I do have plans of the F.Pz.DT 4007 but I don't know if they look the same. They could both be placed on a similar Ringstand though so I think they're quite similar.

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
Thanks AvB
But maybe the two turrets were fitted on the same type of base plate?
Greetings Lars
One difference between the two turrets was, that the F.Pz.DT 4007 was designed for a l.MG, and the F.Pz.DT 4010 was designed for a s.MG.I do have plans of the F.Pz.DT 4007 but I don't know if they look the same. I don't know how an MG 42 in a fixed position could be leicht or schwer? Do you have an explanation for this?

Hello Arthur
A MG42 in it self is a LMG, as soon it is fixed in the affutage it becomes a SMG.

Yes so when it's fixed in a turret, it's an SMG?

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
Correct,
I think that it has to do with the fact when the weapon is placed in a open emplacement on a tripod or in a tobruk they had better cover, and better aiming possibilities, making it a more dangerous weapon and therefore being SMG.
There must be documents about it..

Yes,
l.MG was fitted in a “loose” mount in the turret and aimed with the MG’s grip and butt stock.
s.MG was fixed in the turret and aimed with hand wheels (like e.g. F.Pz.DT 4803).

Re: Bunkers with tank turrets!
Hello
It is as simple as this:
Picture 1 is a LMG
Picture 2 is a SMG
As soon as the MG is in a fixed position it becomes a SMG.
Fixed as in mounted in the affutage, on a vehicle, in a tank, a tankturret or in a fixed position in a bunker / tobruk etc. etc. giving the MG - as "Bunkermann" says "better aiming possibilities, making it a more dangerous weapon and therefore being SMG."
