Re: Id. heavy artillery ammunition
Interesting set, especially the first 2.
First one is a german navy shell, black tip indicates that it is a loaded shell (so filled with HE), the double arrow means it has 2 fuzes: one in the nose, one in the base.
Largest caliber i know that fired a HE shell with 2 fuzes was 30,5 cm, considering the size in comparison to the soldier, the 3 drivingbands and the white ring (centre of gravity) just above the bands, this is most likely a 30,5 cm Spgr. L/3,6 BdZ. u. Kz. (m.Hb) which was shot by 30,5 cm S.K. L/50.
Second picture: these are british 3,7 Inch HE rounds with a smoke pellet.
Third picture: german 15 cm shell, but impossible to say which one exactly.
Best regards,
Zünder,

Re: Id. heavy artillery ammunition
Hello
The first photo from Sturm78 was from a row from the Westwall ,
so the 30.5 cm S.K.L/50 fits perfectly at Batt. Ottenhöfen

Re: Id. heavy artillery ammunition
First picture: This looks like british ammunition to me; fuzes look british ( could be No. 119), the shells have the typically british coloured band (indicating type of explosive used) and the ammunition crates are british as well.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

Judging by the overall shape of the shell and shellcasings, and the fact that they seem to be for seperate loading, this could be ammunition for the 25 Pounder.
Second picture: these are 10 cm Granate 19, fuzes seem to Az 23.
And yes, these were fired by s. 10 cm K. 18.

Re: Id. heavy artillery ammunition
First picture: double drivingband, straight end, in my opinion: french Obus de 370 mm explosif renforce en acier, modele 1917 a amorcage d'ogive.Sturm78 wrote:Hi all,

What it's interesting , is that the shell is fitted with a closing plate, which was normally used to fit a sheetmetal ballistic cap.
I've never seen that on a 370 mm mod 1917.
Second picture:
left: these might be french obus de 270 mm explosif allonge en acier, modele 1916.
right: double drivingband, tapared end, rounded nose: this could be a french Obus de 370 mm en acier, modele 1917 a amorcage d'ogive.
