Need info on 8.8cm Flak L45
Hi all,
I think that this AA gun is a 8.8cm SK L45 for marine use.
Does somebody know if this weapon was used on land by the Kriegsmarine also?
Image from ebay.
Thanks.

Re: Need info AA gun
Hi Sturm78,
There was a turreted 8.8cm SKL?? gun mounted at KKA Battery Lothringen, Noirmont Point Jersey.
The gun was removed from a redundent ship in late 44. The exact type isn't know but from what I am told it was like the example in your photo.
The base plate for the mounting is still in place today.

Hi
Below a 8,8 cm Flak L/45 C/13 in M.P.L. C/13 in position at Midskov on Funen. The guns were emplaced in the autumn of 1944. At this time every gun, however antiqated, was brought into use.
The heavy Flak battery on Fanø probably also was equipped with this type of guns until 1942.

Re: Need info AA gun
Hi all,
I just get another photo in which I believe that appear this same AA gun.
Does someone know the country of soldiers who appear in the photo? According to the caption are Balkan.
I did not know that this gun was used by another country other than Germany.
Photo from Ebay.

Hi all,
I found on Ebay another photo of this AA gun. In some images of this post these guns appear with a rare muzzle brake and not in others. Does someone know something about this?

Hi Strum
I don't think it is muzzle brake. If you look at the first photo in this thread and the one you posted they seem posed not action photos. Nobody seems have told the crew they would look more in action if the muzzle cover had been removed.

I don't think it's a muzzle brake either, nor do I think it's a muzzle cover. There appear to be a pair of counter-bored holes machined into either side of it for mounting bolts. I believe it to be a muzzle counterweight to help balance the gun.
