Re: Faux-gun or real infantry gun of the Reichswehr ?
The shield on all these practice guns looks very similar to the shield of the future 3,7 cm Pak.However, the trails are different. I read in Wikipedia (thus, I'm cautious) that “Rheinmetall secretly continued to work on anti-tank guns and in 1926 built a pre-production sample of a new 3.7 cm gun model 26.”
Could these practice guns have been a way for Rheinmetall to work secretly on anti-tank guns in the 20's?

Re: Faux-gun or real infantry gun of the Reichswehr ?
It is certainly possible that these atrappe infantry guns were used as a sort of "test of concept" for the original Rheinmetall 3.7cm TaK, the direct predecessor of the PaK-35/36 and was the weapon which served as the prototype of the Soviet 37mm M-1930 AT gun. The 3.7cm TaK apparently entered service more or less clandestinely with the Reichswehr as early as 1927-1928 and resembles the later PaK-35/36 in most particulars, except for the disk wheels and pneumatic tires.

It's worth to mention, the guns were identified thanks to this very topic on the AHF.

The officer and soldiers seem to wear Reichswehr uniforms (but I'm not a specialist) but I've noticed a svastika (painted?) on a tree trunk on the left. Could the picture then have taken in the early days of nazi Germany i.e. 1933 or 34?

Hello!
Best regards, Aleks
IMO, it somewhat resembles Rheinmetall 3.7cm TAK with strange device (probably, muzzle brake imitator?) on the barrel.Sturm78 wrote:Any idea about this "gun"?

Hi Aleks,
Which would be the purpose of simulating a muzzle brake?

Perhaps for the purposes of the exercisse they were simulating a specific type of gun.Sturm78 wrote:Hi Aleks,
