I think you are right, nuyt. There were a much similarities...although I can see also some differences, as in the recuperator/brake cylinder....

To # 440.
You are absolutely right. This gun is probably 10 cm Turmkanone from Metz or Thionville or Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II near Mutzig-Molscheim. Please note the solider on the left. Hi is holding a lantern of Prussian pattern used in such Turmkanone batteries.

Not Belgium, I was confused with the 15cm Krupp 1909 howitzer, that had a similar shield arrangement.

Hi nuyt,

Note that the howitzer of my image have a much bigger shield. Also the howitzer of my image have a shield with straight borders, instead of presenting a step, like the Turkish howitzer...

Do you know the reason why these howitzers were not used operationally, neither in the First nor in Second World War ?

Unfortunately, I do not know of a book dedicated to the Italian artillery by the authors N. Pignato and F. Cappellano???

Hi, there are few “written” news, it seems that Ansaldo, after the Caporetto retreat in 1917, put this howitzer into production without an official written order from the Royal Italian Army. Ansaldo had a collaboration agreement with Schneider, and therefore did not need to study a new howitzer. The army bought the same these weapons which were ready at the end of 1918 (too late for the war). The howitzers were put in stock and were still in "reserve" during World War II. Today, one is visible in the garden of the “Vittoriale”, Gabriele D'Annunzio's house museum.
