I think you are right, nuyt. There were a much similarities...although I can see also some differences, as in the recuperator/brake cylinder.... :?

Hi all,

An image from Ebay. I think a recaptured 10cm gun turret of a pre WW1 old fortress...

To # 440.
You are absolutely right. This gun is probably 10 cm Turmkanone from Metz or Thionville or Feste Kaiser Wilhelm II near Mutzig-Molscheim. Please note the solider on the left. Hi is holding a lantern of Prussian pattern used in such Turmkanone batteries.

Not Belgium, I was confused with the 15cm Krupp 1909 howitzer, that had a similar shield arrangement.

Hi nuyt,

Note that the howitzer of my image have a much bigger shield. Also the howitzer of my image have a shield with straight borders, instead of presenting a step, like the Turkish howitzer...

Hi, yes it is a M. 1918 .
I add the photos of the three models, with some details :

149-12 Mod. 14 , project Krupp, made only by Vickers-Terni
149-12-14 from a book of ''N. Pignato & F. Cappellano''.jpg
149-12 Mod. 16 , barrel and cradle project Krupp, carriage project Ansaldo and made only by Ansaldo
149-12-16 027104 from ''fondazioneansaldo.it''.jpg
149-12-16 vedi scritta from the NET.jpg
149-12 Mod. 18 , barrel and cradle project Krupp, carriage project Ansaldo (of a new model) and made only by Ansaldo
149-12-18 027735 from ''fondazioneansaldo.it''.jpg
The two howitzers in the background are 105-14-Ansaldo (a model Schneider built in 500 copies but never sent to the front)

Do you know the reason why these howitzers were not used operationally, neither in the First nor in Second World War ?

Hi!
Can you tell me what name has this book of the authors of Nicola Pignato and Filippo Cappellano?
I have books:
Nicola Pignato "Artiglierie e automezzi dell'esercito italiano nella seconda guerra mondiale"
Filippo Cappellano "Le artiglierie del regio esercito nella seconda guerra mondiale"
Unfortunately, I do not know of a book dedicated to the Italian artillery by the authors N. Pignato and F. Cappellano???
Best regards!

Hi, there are few “written” news, it seems that Ansaldo, after the Caporetto retreat in 1917, put this howitzer into production without an official written order from the Royal Italian Army. Ansaldo had a collaboration agreement with Schneider, and therefore did not need to study a new howitzer. The army bought the same these weapons which were ready at the end of 1918 (too late for the war). The howitzers were put in stock and were still in "reserve" during World War II. Today, one is visible in the garden of the “Vittoriale”, Gabriele D'Annunzio's house museum.

Best regards , Shultz
