Hello Junker

It is a 2 cm Flak 28. Produced by Semag and Becker in Zuerich (Swiss), later than by Oerlikon in Zuerich (Swiss).

Germany baught many of them before the war, gave them them the name 2 cm Flak 28 and 29. First they were mainly used in the german navy, later and expecially during the war, when many of them got captured they were used also in other units.

Hi all,

Someone knows the difference between the 2cm Oerlikon Flak28 and Flak29?
Maybe one of them is the mobile field version and the other is the version static on pedestal?

All AA guns were purchased in Switzerland or was also manufactured under license in Germany? I know that the air version of this gun was manufactured under license in Germany by Ikaria Werke of Berlin (MG FF and MG FF/M).

Anyone know how many Oerlikon AA guns were purchased in Switzerland and when? Only before war???

Regards Sturm78.

Hi all,

I bought the book "German 20mm Flak in WW2" of Werner Muller. According to this book, the 2cm Oerlikon Flak 29 and Flak 29 apt in the Sockellafette 40 pedestal mount were intended by the Kriegsmarine for installation on ships.
The 2cm Oerlikon Flak 28 was the first light automatic AA weapon to reach the units, in 1928 and it was installed on a mobile wheeled carriage.

This solves my first question but but still remain the other two.

On the other hand I get this other picture on the Internet (I dont remember the source)that has left me a little confused :?
The Flak 28 used a 15-round clip magazine and the Flak 29 used a large drum magazine with 60-rounds. But this picture shows an pivot mounted Oerlikon with a clip magazine. Any ideas?

Based on the French helmet on the bottom right corner, the scene was taking place in France or Belgium. Therefore, the gun was a 20 mm Mle 1939 Oerlikon of the French Army.
