Hi
the gun on the attached photos was found at the 15 cm battery of Faarupklit after the German capitulation.
The gun is a German 10,5 cm. S.K. C/32. But can anybody recognize the shield?
I can't remember to have seem anything like it elsewehere.
Best regards
Jens

Re: Unknown gun shield
Hi Jens ,
Thank you very much for the two clear gun photos . J belive that the
gun is a 10,5 cm Ubts und Tbts Flak L/45 in Ubts und Tbts L C / 16
with elevation - 10 to + 50 . The guns were converted to take 10,5 cm
S.K. C / 32 ammunition . But the gun orgin is a clear 10,5 cm submarine
gun of WW 1 .
The gun shield ??? They are rare , but J have seen the same shield at
Sperrbrecher 14 ( Bockenheim ) . Page 183 + page 190 in Peter Arndt
Deutsche Sperrbrecher 1914 - 1945 .
Hope this helps ???
Regards
ludvig

Hi Ludvig
Thanks a lot. I will check the shield in the book.
But that shield can't for submarine use! Where have they found it?

Re: Unknown gun shield
Hello Jens
The M.K.B. See 1./509 and M.K.B. Tvaersted 3./509 had these guns so maybe the photo was taken there ???
Here a other convermation on the gun from a other report , I could not find anything on the gun shield .
I can't see a reason for the large opening on the right , on the tipp of the barrel there is a extra reinforcement .
Regards Jos

Re: Unknown gun shield
Hi Jos
Thank you for the comments and the list of guns.
However, it is completely sure that the gun was at Faarupklit as the pciture is a part of a series from that place and, also, it is mentioned in a Danish report.
The guns in Tversted were submarine guns all right, but they were S.K.C/32's. They had shields of the type used on the torpedo boots.
Best regards
Jens
