New excavation - 101v bunker
Work has started on the excavation of a type 101v bunker @ noirmont in jersey, it is not going to be a quick excavation as it has to be done by hand (well shovels and buckets)
I will post some pics very soon but for those of you that can't wait please look at our website http://www.ciosjersey.org.uk/news.htm
As you will see in the pictures there is more fantastic jersey granite that has been used and most of the camo netting hooks are still in place.
Many thanks
kevin

A tremendous job you guys are doing.
If you'll forgive a little nit-picking. You depict a Fl 242 commandbunker, surely you mean a 241.

Well this bunker has been sealed up for over 60 years, the scrapmen could not strip it out being that it was sealed up. It was used as a personnal bunker as for the type I have been told it's a early west wall v101 but hey I could be wrong
We do have a list of rumors of what lies inside, the best one we have heard that this bunker is an entrance to an underground u-boat bunker
Any way if any one has info on this bunker type or if it is a 242/241 please let ms know
many thanks

Hi Kenvin,
AFl 242 is a humble Flak bunker a la L 409A, the Fl 241 is a commandbunker, the one depicted certainly looks like the latter.

Re: New excavation - 101v bunker
Hello Kevin and SES
The bunker we are talking about is:
"FL242 V. Naval Flak Brigade Command Bunker at St. Marc-sur-Mer" - right?
The Flakcommand bunker at St. Marc-sur-Mer / St. Nazaire IS a FL250
It was the command bunker for the main flakbatteries around St. Nazaire.
Quote:
"The main commandpost of V. Marine Flak Brigade at St Marc was housed in a Fl 250, a so called "Flakgruppenkommandostand". The Flak batteries were manned by four Marine Flakabteilungen (Navy AA-battalions):
-- 703, La Vecquerie,
-- 705, Montoir de Bretagne,
-- 809, St Brévin,
-- 820, St Nazaire city, at the school in St Louis.
The light AA battalion 820 had small caliber guns and were spread out over the entire area. Each other heavy battalion had a searchlight battery. Searchlights were placed at a distance of approx 3 km from the main batteries.
The datasheet gives a review on organisation, armament, location and codenames.
A total of 72 anti-aircraftguns with a caliber of 10,5 or 12,8 cm were placed in the Festung St Nazaire."
Unquote.

NB: Go for France - St. Nazaire - Airdefence - St. Marc.

Hi Kurt,
I'll bet a great piece of Salami that 242 is a Typo. As you yourself very well know 242 is a Flak, not a command bunker. Just check Rudi Rolf p. 297 and 135.

OK 250 not 242, my point was that the caption was wrong.

Thanks Patrick,
My whole point was to try and point out that the caption:
FL242 V. Naval Flak Brigade Command Bunker at St. Marc-sur-Mer
to the picture in in the link in the first post above is incorrect.
