Hello Jos .

Re: Id. naval guns
Hello Ludvig
Checked together with a friend who has a lot of books about the Kriegsmarine , we could not find any 3.7 cm M 43 .
So I think that we can skipped the 3.7 cm M 43 as candidate of the gun we found on the photo's , still have my hopes
on the 3.7 cm M 43U and 3.7 cm M 43 that they are not the same gun .
Found on internet a other 3.7 cm Flak gun C/36 in L.C. 36 ??

Re: Id. naval guns
Hello Jos ,
* thanks your efforts to track down a photo of 3,7
cm Flak 43 in naval use !!!
* have my nose into my archive + books on German
navy , but it is frustrating , came to same conclucion
as you . J am forced to a tactical retreat ( GRRR )
* Seen more on the photos the Dock Musum in
Barrows - in - Furness from U532 posing as
37 mm AA . Have a feeling that the gun is a 20 mm
notice the black box magazine to left and the black
Hüslensack to right .
* Thanks for uploading of the supposed 3,7 cm - Flak
C / 36 in 3,7 cm - Flak - L. 36 .
The scan orginates from :
Marine-Arsenal , Sonderheft Band 18 , Leichte und
mittlere Artillerie auf deutschen Kriegsschiffen by
Stehr und Breyer , published in 1999 , page 9 under
chapter :3,7 cm S.K. C/30
The gun is a 3,7 cm Flak 42 !!! ( wrong caption again )
you can see it by the :
- 8 - rounds loading frame
- loading frame curved guidelines ( as on the 40 mm L 60 Bofors )
- smooth / slim transfer of rectangual gun house to the round
gun barrel
- Looong gun barrel
- stabilized gun mount , unsure of the gun mount
Waffen - Revue no 45 + 46 have very detailed information on
the 3,7 cm Flak 43 , but little of the naval use . However WR
have production numbers broken down for Heer + Marine +
Luftwaffe . Marine received the first 5 x guns in February 1944 , then
9 x guns in March 1944 and so on . J can type in these naval deliveries
for you ????
Regards ludvig

Re: Id. naval guns
Hi all,
Putting aside for the moment the question of German 3.7cm SK naval AA guns. I found this curiuos image of a german AA naval turret. According to photocation: 3cm Drehkranz-Doppellafette M 44U mit 2cm-Flak 38
2cm Flak 38 or 3cm Mk 103 guns?
Is this the AA turret planned for the Type XXI U-Boot?
Have anybody more information about this equipment?

Hello Sturm78
Here a picture of a 2 cm in Doppelafette , your photo from Uboot.net

Re: Id. naval guns
Hello
It seems to be a MK 103.
Anyway, this tread seems to go from coastal fortifications and is rapidly going down.
(not down the tube, but down below..ref U-2511)

stril

But that was the easy part, now the further question.
I understand this model with the two-piece barrel was designated the nS model (what could that mean, neue...?)
The Dutch Navy after WW2 operated several of these 10,5 cm naval guns in various models, including one called NL., which I think had nothing to do with Nederland, but referred to a late war German model.
Any ideas on this?

Re: Id. naval guns
Part 2
n.S. = neuer Selbstspanneder = a barrel from 3 parts , I have no futher information .
n.L. = neuer Ladevorrichtung = a device on top of the breech to open the slideblock and to throw out the empty round .For example the 10.5 cm S.K.C/32 has a max. rate of fire of 14 rounds a minute , the 10.5 cm S.K.C/32 n.L. could reach a rate of fire between the 18 and 20 rounds a minute .
Info and photo's = Les pieces de 10.5 cm S.K.C/32 et S.K.C/33 de la Kriegsmarine
P.S. I have also a quistion some 10.5 cm S.K.C/32 barrels have a hump near the tip of the barrel ( not on ),
please the picture is this the n.S. ???
Regards Jos

Re: Id. naval guns
Jos ,
Thank you for uploading 3 x photos ! Comments :
1) Drawing from Toussaint / Chazette page 23 have a wrong
caption ! It shows a 10,5 cm S.K.C/33 gun barrel you
can see it by 60 angel slope downwards the breech + the sharp cut
at the bottom of the breech end .
2)photo shows a 10,5 cm S.K. C/32 n L in Deckenschutzschild of the round
type notice the semi - automatic breech + loading motor
3) Photo shows a :
10,5 cm S.K. C/32 n S in 10,5 cm M.P.L. C/32 g E . You see it by
the two " Visierklappen " pointing uwards + outwards .
The two humps are claimed to be for the Vo measurement system .
Interesting theory , it seems most of the 10,5 cm S.K.C. n S are
fitted with two humps , but it could be on the other 10,5 cm S.K. C/32
gun barreles , too .
Regards ludvig
