Hello to all :D; something more..................

Artillery in action - Gebirgsgeschütz 36 in the Caucasus!

The 7.5 cm GebG 36 was designed by Rheinmetall to meet an Army requirement for a 7.5 cm howitzer to serve in the mountain divisions (Gebirgs Divisionen) and replace the World War I-era mountain guns still in service like the Austro-Hungarian 7.5 cm Gebirgskanone 15. Production began in 1938.

Hi Sturm

I have some drawings of the 7.5cm Geb.G.36 carried by mules and they show the breach and barrel were carried as a separate loads. In your photo the breach and barrel are being carried as one load, so it could well be the 7.5cm Skoda M15.

Interesting if grainy picture of Gebirgsjäger training for the invasion of Britain (Operation Sealion) in 1940. Bundesarchiv photo scanned from Richard Cox, Operation Sealion.
A converted river barge with unloading ramp (or some kind of ferry?) can be made out in the background.

And another pic of one being loaded (laboriously) in a Ju 52, from Karl-Heinz Golla, Die deutsche Fallschirmtruppe 1936-1941. Originally, the first German parachute division (7. Fliegerdivision) had one battery with 75mm Skoda M15 guns, towed by mules. However, when they were landed at Waalhaven on 10 May 1940 the poor animals bolted, it seems.
Later in 1940 the divisional artillery was expanded to a battalion, equipped with twelve Model 1936 guns towed by Kettenkräder (available 1941). As an alternative to the Ju 52, the gun could be transported disassembled in two DFS 230 gliders.
