I don´t think.

On the other hand, Does somebody know when, how and how much 10.5cm leFH18 howitzers were bought by Portugal?

These howitzers have a mix of features: split trails of leFH18-18M, muzzle break of leFH18/40 and all new wheels.
Any idea about this?? 8O :? :?

Stum78,

I don't know about the quantities procured by Portugal but the wheels are identical to the wheels on the 10,5 cm leFH18 (possibly 18-39) you posted here:

http://forum.axishistory.com/viewtopic. ... 0&t=153425

For those who watched the HBO Series "Band of Brothers", the 10.5 cm gun at Brecourt Manor used in the movie is of the same type as the one posted by Sturm78 (see the wheels and the muzzle brake). So, it looks like the director of "Band of Brothers" went to Portugal to obtain its gun. 8-)

Hi Strum

I think it is a Soviet captured arms park. The troops in the photo do not look German but victorious Soviets. One man has his medals on and as for "comrade officer". :)

Hmm, look like a German victor and some Dutch helpers in a Dutch artillery park. A 7 Veld top left and the chubby howitzers may be the 12cm Bofors-Hembrug. Two 12 or 15cm guns in the rear too...
No medals, probably a document in his breast pocket, the list of the guns?
Anyways, fab pic!

Hi Nuyt

Could the 10.5 cm leFH 18 be Dutch version? Known by the Germans as 10.5cm leFH 18/39 owing to its no standard ammuntion. In reading the War over Holland site it suggest these had not been delivered.

Yes the Dutch did get some before the war and there is a parade picture showing them with DAF tractors. Here:

For those who dont know the 12cm Bofors Hembrug, here is a link. Compare the hard rubber tyres and the unique shield.

In the pic above I can see at least 7 12cm howitzers, plus the two lFh18s in Dutch service. Must be a complete howtizer battalion.

Hello,

Does anybody here has info on when China bought leFH18s, and how many? It seems that in Chinese sources there are far less information on leFH18 than on 15cm sFH18, maybe the latter looked more impressive :)

Here's a photo of a leFH18 in the hand of Chinese Communists, preparing to breaching the fortified city of Taiyuan in 1949.

Did a research on the Chinese documents that I have in hand, and found that Chinese army planned to buy as many as 60 leFH18 guns, but not quite sure how many of them really arrived.

And in a document dating from January 1938, "light howitzer Type 18" was listed as one of the urgent needed weapons that China is willing to pay cash to buy, and it is the only piece of artillery in this short list 8O .
