You're so lucky with the Festung Guernsey and Festung Jersey photographs. Very well documented!

Thank you very much Paul

I have never been inside a R.676, only a R.631.
The before and now picture is a treat too. Lucky bastards...
The vent.system is a treat for a vent.freak like me.
I have never seen a HES 10 before. Must ad it to my drawing.
Don't mess this oppertunaty up, please... Save the old bottle too.

Here are a few pictures from the weekend. We had previously recovered the gate and repaired and grit-blasted it ready for refitting. The entrance is now landscaped and we will be starting to excavate the embrasure end shortly.

Paul

This weekend we turned our attention to the front end and the embrasure gets to see daylight again. The spent shell pit has a concrete cover with a small hatch on the right hand side.

Work has now started to pump out and clear the spent shell pit. It is full of debris, but among the rubbish not only did we find the missing front cover for the bunker phone. We also found the barrel cleaning rod. We have now been able to hang it back on it's original hooks in the bunker.

I find that pretty interesting in it's own right that the spent shell pit in front of the embrasure was not an open pit like with other R676s.

Possibly flood protection from the higher tides and stormy weather?

Nice find btw on the barrel cleaner.

R, Dan.

Before and now shot.

Now come on everyone. Someone out there must be able to find us a 4.7 pak that we can re-instate in this bunker.

Retards??? <g>

You already have the 2 10.5s from Jersey!

You leave Cherbourg's PakK 36(t) alone!

Thanks John for pointing out my typo. I wasn't trying to insult you all.
Here's a pic looking down into the the spent shell pit. Does anyone have any idea if the writing has any significance?

Hi Arthur
Yes, there were a number of Georgian troops on the island. Mainly on the south coast. It is possible some were stationed here.
