Hello
Two picture's of the BL 9.2 inch Howitzer Mk II there were in 1940 still 27 guns in service of the B.E.F. and
also the Belgian Army had a few in there arsenal . I don't know if the British army used pneumatic wheels for
this gun in 1940 as all other guns did have .

Re: 23.4 cm Haubitze 546/2 (e) or (b)
The Russians also used this howitzer (see AHF thread referenced by Jos). But the cobblestones on the pictures tell me that it was taken most probably in Belgium or Northern France.
The British lost 27 howitzers of the BEF but still had 39 held in the UK.
Here are some pictures of a modernized version of the 9.2" with pneumatic wheels. The recoil system and the breech look different, maybe a prototype ?

Hi
Regards Sturm78
In 1939 was approved a new design of 9.2in (234mm) howitzer to replace the old 9.2in howitzer. Although the trials were passed successfully, in 1942 the development was shelved in favor of US heavy 240mm howitzers.Manufery wrote

Re: 23.4 cm Haubitze 546/2 (e) or (b)
I have never seen a 9.2 inch Howitzer with any thing else but wooden wheels as in the opening photo or traction engine wheels. The gun in Emmanuel's links is as identified by Sturm and is the Vickers prototype for a more mobile version of the gun.
As for the photos showing British or Belguim weapons I haven't got a clue. What is needed is a photo of Belguim gunners with their howitzer in travelling mode then we would be able to say what type of wheel the Belguim army guns had. We know the British had both types.
